Slide 2:Why am I talking to you about this organization? I need your help with getting the word out there. Currently, less than 15% of Service Contractor companies are members of MCAM. Thats partly due to the fact that many of these companies are not aware of the benefits of being a service contractor member.I would like to speak to you briefly about the significant list of benefits designed to help them succeed in this industryand maybe you can pass a little of this on to your service contractor customers. Of all of the benefits listed, I think the most important one is the National Certification Program.

National Certification Program* MSCC, BOMA & IFMA* Two Levels of Certification 1-MSCC Certified Contractor 2- MSCC Certified Technician * Referral Program* National Recognition* Differentiate from Competition

3NATIONAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM - Slide 3:The National Certification Program has just been completed. This is probably the greatest benefit of being an MSCC member. Its been in development since 2008 when the MSCC Certification Committee was created. This committee includes MSCC Members and representatives from both BOMA (Building Owners & Managers Association and IFMA (International Facilities Management Association). They will continue to meet even after the program is well under way to ensure that the Program Standards are being maintained. The committee recommended and established two levels of certification:MSCC Certified ContractorMSCC Certified TechnicianThey are two distinct programs but they are also tied closely together. What do I mean by that

National Certification ProgramMSCC CERTIFIED CONTRACTORThe MSCC Certified Contractor designation is awarded to outstanding contractors who have demonstrated industry-leading practices in a number of key competencies along with having technicians who are MSCC Certified.

CRITERIA1- A proven track record in the mechanical service industry 2- At least 20% of your current journeyman that are MSCC Certified Technicians3- Documented service safety and health programs and maintain an outstanding safety record 4- Provide ongoing educational training to employees 5- Have an established truck inventory control system and major tool inventory program 6- Provide and require photo ID cards to be worn by all field personnel 7- Maintain the highest levels of customer service

4Slide 4:The MSCC Contractor designation is a company-wide certification. It demonstrates that a contractor member deploys industry leading practices in key competencies such as safety, training and customer service. There are 7 specific criteria to be met, one being that 20% of the applicants journeypersons must be MSCC certified technicians. Each of the criteria are outlined in detail on the application form, which is available on the MSCC website.National Certification ProgramMSCC CERTIFIED TECHNICIANSThe MSCC Certified Technician program requires technicians to participate in a rigorous apprenticeship training program and have extensive on-the-job experience. Finally, only those who pass the comprehensive exam become MSCC Certified Technicians.

5Slide 5:The MSCC Technicians designation is for journeypersons and it has 4 criteria:1- they must be a qualified journeyperson2- they must have a written endorsement from their employer stating that they meet the requirements for this process3- they agree to attend at least one industry training session each year4- they must pass a written test, taken online- currently the tests cover plumbing, pipefitting and HVAC technicians- information of MSCC Technicians Certification is also available for download from the MSCC website

6Slide 6:So what does Certification say to service contractors clients? It says the Service Contractor- upholds a strict code of business ethics- employs the best trained and most qualified workforce- maintains a superior safety record- offers outstanding customer service and - focuses on continuing education for the companys employeesClients will be assured that their buildings systems are in the hands of the most qualified and competent technicians and contractors. Building owners and managers are going to DEMAND an MSCC certified contractor.Another element of the certification program is for organizations like BOMA, IFMA and the various levels of government to use it as a referral program. MSCC Certified contractors would be at the top of their contractor call lists.Discussions have also taken place with Public Works Government Service Canada (PWGSC) and Defence Construction Canada (DCC) who were very interested and we will continue to keep them up to date as the program rolls out across the country.
