denition which gave an idea that technologies we are following nature as well.

Bionics or biologically inspired engineering is the application of biological methods and systems found in nature to the study and design of engineering systems and modern technology. Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature's time-tested patterns and strategies.

The transition of technology will be rapid and it will not wait for anyone. Happy that these technologies have direct or indirect relations with mechanical engineering. I wish that problems of today's world turn into opportunities with these new technologies and make our life happier.

Future technologies of the decade! Dear reader,As the technologies are becoming absolute at the

fastest phase and everyone is eager to the know the technologies that will rule in the next decade. It could benet the present generation in terms of jobs creation. Hence there is a forceful shift from existing technology to the upcoming latest technologies. Question is whether the mechanical engineering is going to change/adopt from its good old technologies to latest technologies.

The technology that might rule the next decade could be articial intelligence, internet of things, automation, robot/drone technology, autonomous vehicles, 3D printing, energy technologies like fuel cell, nanotechnology in computing, medicine, m a c h i n e s , b i g d a t a a n a l y t i c s , p r o x i m i t y technologies, additive manufacturing, rapid prototyping, machine learning etc.

The new words that fascinated me recently are “bionics” and “biomimicry”, googling them gave a
