Welcome to join IGNOU as a student of M.A (Economics) Part-I programme. The old course bearing code no. MEC-005 (Indian Economic Policy), a compulsory course of M.A. Economics Programme had been on offer during July 2005 to June 2012. This course was designed and developed in the year 2004-05 and contained the events and developments of Indian Economy and the policy related issues till 2004. Keeping in view the fact that a lot of developments have taken place on the Indian Economic Policy front and hence the course material has become obsolete, the Economics faculty took initiatives to completely revise this course so that the students admitted to M.A (Economics) Programme are enlightened with the current facts and changes in the Indian Economic Policy. The old course having course code no. MEC-005 has therefore been replaced by newly revised course bearing code no. MEC-105 from the academic session July 2012. The old course having course code MEC-005 stands withdrawn from July 2012. You are, therefore, required to submit the assignment of MEC-105. Clear cut instructions to this effect has also been mentioned in the assignment booklet 2012-13. However, due to some error, some of you might have been sent the material of the old course i.e. MEC-005. Such students are, therefore, requested to change the old course material (MEC-005) and get the new revised course material (MEC-105) from your respective Regional Centre. Suitable advice in this regard has already been sent to all the Regional Centres and

The old course bearing code no. MEC-005 (Indian Economic Policy), a compulsory course of M.A. Economics Programme had been on offer during July 2005 to June 2012.
