ALL IMPORTANT DECISION MAKERS COULD BENEFIT FROM LEARNING THAT ANYTHING THAT THEY REALLY NEED TO KNOW IS MEASURABLE.

What are we measuring?

When looking at my innovation project of “Appy Hour”, I have decided to look at measuring three different ideas. • Comfort level• Teacher’s use of technology in their own

learning• Is “Appy Hour” changing behaviors?

Page 4: Measurement presentation

What methods and research design will be used?

• The research design that will be used is both descriptive research (what?) and explanatory research design (why?). • We will use qualitative reseach

methods, focusing mostly on in depth interviews through a survey and short answer format. • We would like to design our surveys as

closely as possible to a Likert scale, as to help measure attitude and opinions.

Privacy, Procedures and Ethical Considerations

• Surveys will be anonymous both to protect identities and to increase the

likelihood of truthfulness. • Information given in the surveys will be

used to make the “Appy Hour” concept stronger and focus professional development on what the Moore

teachers need.

What are the measures and what instruments will be used to gather data?

• To measure the effectiveness of “Appy Hour”, I am looking at creating a survey, through a site such as survey monkey or google docs, where I can use a Likert scale format to address teacher’s use of apps and technology. This will be given before a cycle of “Appy Hour” and after a cycle of “Appy Hour”, so we can compare the results.

• To measure the teacher comfort and perceptions of technology use, I am looking at creating a combination of two existing surveys to get the information that I feel is needed when looking at “Appy Hour”. I would like to set these up in a Likert scale also.. TUPs Su

• To measure teacher use of technology for their own learning, a survey will be created using Survey Monkey and will address using technology outside the classroom for personal growth and learning.

Results• I plan on putting the results into an Excel

spreadsheet - come up with percentages for each part of the Likert scale. • Data obtained by the “Appy Hour” - to

look at trends and ideas for future professional development.

Page 11: Measurement presentation

• Perception and uses survey - to gain knowledge about where the teachers are in our building, to help determine future staff development. • Sharing the results with my building

administration and our technology liason - better decisions about future staff development.

Results - continued
