Wireless PV Reference Sensor

SolSensorprovidesirradiance,temperature,andmoduletiltdatatothePVmodel.ThemodelusesthisinformationtopredicttheI-Vcurveshapeatoperatingconditions,andtotranslatethemeasuredcurvetoSTC.SolSensorclampstothemoduleframe,automaticallyorientingtheirradiancesensorintheplaneofthearray.

Irradiance AccuracyThespectralresponseofSolSensor’ssiliconphotodiodesensoriscorrectedforthePVtechnologyundertest.Specialfactorsareprovidedformulti-andmono-crystallinecellsaswellasCdTeandotherthinfilmtechnologies.Thesensoristemperaturecompensatedandtheangularresponseofeachunitiscalibratedforrotationandelevation.

Asaresultofthesefeatures,SolSensormakesaccurateirradiancemeasurementsoverabroadrangeoftechnologies,skyconditions,andsunangles,allowinguseoftheequipmentearlierandlaterintheday.

Temperature AccuracySolSensorprovidestwoexternalthermocoupleinputsformeasuringmodulebacksideorambienttemperatures.CelltemperaturecanalsobecalculateddirectlyfromthemeasuredI-VcurveusingmethodsdescribedinIEC60904-5.

ThePVA’sSmartTempfeatureblendsthesetwomethodsforbestadvantage.TemperatureiscalculatedfromthemeasuredI-Vcurveathighirradiance,takenfromthethermocoupleatlowirradiance,andderivedfromablendofthetwoatintermediateirradiancevalues.

Wireless RangeSolSensor’srangetoyourPCis100m,allowingyoutotestmoreofyourarraywitheachredeploymentofthesensors.WhenthedistancefromyourPCtoSolSensorincreasesbeyondthedirectwirelessrange,thePVA’smesh-typewirelessnetworktransparentlyswitchestousethecurvetracerasahighpowerrelaystation.
