I Am the One Named

My name has always been the same but for a long time I didn’t like it so I went by Katie. I am Katrina Dowall, and there is no one like me!

13 Years, 7 Months, and 25 Days Back

On February 11th 2000 at exactly 9:25 in the morning the sun shone and a rainbow cascaded over Ridge Meadows Hospital. Well maybe not, but hey I don’t remember I wasn’t even a minute old!

My “Unique” FamilyMy Family can be a little crazy at times, but when you have a sixteen

year old male and a thirteen year old girl living in the same house under the same roof, whose house can’t get hectic at times? I have a n amazing brother who is caring, compassionate and an all round good person. My Mom, Shari, is the best Mother anyone could ask for. She is generous, loving, and I cannot say enough about her. My father , Cam, is fun-loving, intelligent, and loves to spend time with my brother and I. My family may be crazy but it’s dinner and a show every night at my house!

New School, New NervesAt the age of five, like everyone, I started kindergarten.( You know

the easiest grade by far.) I followed my brother to Albion Elementary, like any younger sister would do. At first I was nervous, this grew as an annual event when it was time to move on to a higher grade. I met Arveen in kindergarten who is my best friend to this day. I spent all of my elementary career at Albion.

My FriendsI have a lot of great friends, not just at Garibaldi. I really enjoy

hanging out with my friends because they like me for who I am, and I like them for who they are. It’s a really great feeling to know that your friends are there for you, and that they support you in your decisions!

My Five Favorite ThingsWhen I’m not at school I love to play Piano, Dance, hang out with my

friends, spend time with my family, and travel. Though I can’t travel year-round I love to visit new places, especially ones with a lot of history. Usually before I go I would research the history, climate, currency, and some other things I would find of interest. This way before I go I know a bit about the destination.

Ready, Set, Grow A lot of people my age don’t know where they will head in the future,

and that’s okay, but with me it’s always been the same. I want to teach. I love little kids and for the longest time I have wanted to teach Kindergarten or Preschool. Although now I either want to teach Kindergarten or Piano. Piano hasn’t always been my passion, but after meeting my current piano teacher and working with her I really started to enjoy and excel in piano. So whether I teach Piano or Kindergarten I know I will always have music in my life. Music not only touches the soul, but imprints on the heart as well.

I Am Excited About...This year I am looking forward to learning new things, meeting new

friends, and experiencing new things.

All Around The WorldI’ve always traveled in the summer.

Usually either at the end or beginning of August depending if I have any Piano exams. This summer I went on a Caribbean cruise with my family. It took us to Grand Turks, San Juan Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, and lastly St.Thomas. I also have visited Oahu Hawaii, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Puerto Vallarta Mexico, and Cabo San Lucas Mexico. Someday I want to go back to my roots and visit Scotland and Germany.

This Year I Wish To Achieve

In Grade Eight, I want to improve my writing and math skills. My goal is to receive straight A’s this year.

My Pet Peeves I don’t have very many pet peeves really, just a couple. I really don’t

like it when people lie to me, mess with my things, are noisy eaters, stand behind me reading my computer screen, and finally when people say “yes but”. You know the basic stuff.
