United Nations defines financial inclusion as the “access to the range of financial services at a reasonable cost for the bankable people and farms”.
World Bank estimates 2.5 billion working-age adults globally have no access to formal financial services delivered by regulated financial institutions.
Basic financial services include savings, short and long-term credit, leasing and factoring, mortgages, insurance, pensions, payments, local money transfers and international remittances.
The ACCION-affiliate Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI) argues that quality financial services in a full inclusive financial system would be provided at affordable prices, in a convenient manner, and with dignity for the clients.
Financial inclusion has direct relationship with access to finance. Access to finance refers to the right of entry of individuals or enterprises to financial services including credit, deposit, payment, and other financial services.
People who have no access to financial services are un-banked and those who have limited access are under-banked.
One of the major goals of financial inclusion is the delivery of financial services to the disadvantaged and low-income segments of society at affordable costs.

In fact, Microfinance is the best example of Financial Inclusion.
Our 700 regulated MFIs are reaching out 30 million poor people and providing them financial services.
Wonderful innovations are taking place to bring un-served poor within inclusive finance. Example are:-
14 million Bank Accounts for the poor and poor/tenant farmers with initial deposit of BDT equivalent of Ten cents; creating a Fund by them for BDT
equivalent of US$ 25 million; finance to micro entrepreneur; finance to sharecroppers; mobile financial services; introducing school banking; bank accounts for the street children
disables etc.
Microfinance and other inclusive finances
