MCQ Instruments develops and produces highly versatile devices for gas mixing and data acquisition, which offer the user the ability to realise its own measuring and control-platform. So, it is now possible to create sophisticated systems, able to manage and automate all the measuring tests and the calibration routines easily with one sole instrument.
MCQ Instruments offers two types of software solutions, developed in conjunction with extensive usability testing. All products include bundled software, which allows for simple instrument management via an intuitive user interface. Additionally, an open source version is availa- ble for those who need to customize the software to meet their needs.
Simply by using the boards’ modularity and to the numerous interfaces present on these boards, MCQ Instruments offers its clients the ability to develop compact, economic and versatile test and calibration systems and platforms (“Fast Time-to-Market solution”). By using a single control software and a simple and intuitive user interface, costs and dimensions of the whole test-device can be reduced (“Lab in a box”).
Modularity and Compactness
MCQ Instruments has specialized in the control of small flow rate. Built-in DSP guarantees a very fast control, assuring a response times for the change of the setpoint of 50 ms on a single channel. This solution makes it possible to generate square wave signals, sine wave signals and ramp signals.

Figure 1. A system with constant carbon dioxide (CO2) amount in the atmosphere, feed-back regulated. The amount of CO2 inside the cell culture flask is constantly measured by the CO2 Sensor installed. Related data are transfered to the Data Acquisition Board in which the desired amount of CO2 can be monitored and adjusted. With a feed-back regulation system the Acquisition Board controls the Flow Board 200 to set the incoming CO2 flow in order to keep the carbon dioxide % in the flask atmosphere constant.

The sensor module can be used both for the measure and for the control of gas mass flow. It has been conceived for all the customers that want to realize applications where control of gas flow rate is required. The sensor module allows to develop a mass flow controller that meets their own requirements. The module is based on an airflow sensor that senses mass flow rate and flow direction from the heat transfer that it creates across the surface of a resistor bridge heater circuit.

.The board mounts an operational amplifier, an analog filter and a DSP microcontroller that realizes the data acquisition, the digital filtering, the linearization and the thermal compensation. In a recommended arrangement the module can be connected to a proportional valve for flow regulation. The DSP microcontroller can be programmed to accomplish the PID control to manage the valve in answer to the information gathered by the flow sensor mounted on board. If desired MCQ can provide you with the proper components depending on the maximal absorbed current.
Furthermore, the board could be easily integrated in custom devices. Just to give an idea, it could be used for providing a controlled airflow at the inset of a chromatographic column, or to calibrate and control an already existing gas delivery system.
Features:
MCQ Instruments Software
MCQ FLOW MONITOR
The software allows direct access to all control parameters of the MCQ instruments. We can divide them into two categories:
The standard versions: the first one studied for the Flow Board 200 ( "Flow Monitor") and the second one for the Gas Blender ("Gas Mixer Manager"), both included in bundle with the product. “Flow Monitor” allows to scan the bus in order to verify the peripherals, reading of temperature, the modification of the instrument's set point and the PID parameters, furthermore it allows to display different parameters with specific gauges. The “Gas Mixer Manager" moreover allows to manage the mixing process by intervening directly on the single channel to modify and control the final blending or the final dynamic dilution. It also allows the management of each channel to define the input gas type provided from your own cylinder or to set, if you need it, your supplied particular gas mixture.
The open source version: MCQ Instruments provides an open source software "MCQ Bus System" with basic graphical interface and essential code source to develop your own control platform according to your needs. With this version you can also manage all the devices connected on the BUS. By accessing and using the open source version you are agreeing to be bound by an User Agreement.
