Highlights: 11 – 17 June, 2012

Global mobile transaction volume and value to average 42 percent annual growth between 2011 and 2016, and are forecasting a market worth $617 billion with $448 million users by 2016, according to a Gartner survey. Smartphone and tablet transactions have spiked by 2,000 percent in a span of two years, and are responsible for 8.2 percent of the overall online shopping that occurred within the first quarter of 2012.

The new IMRG/Capgemini Quarterly Benchmarking Index reveals a 2,000% rise in mobile transactions in the UK over the course of the last two years. UK was listed among the regional markets that experienced the biggest quarterly confidence gains, alongside countries such as Chile, US, Venezuela, Malaysia and Denmark.
