Sharon began her career at MCHI in 1982 right out of high school, as a nurses aide. She then continued to work in the hospital as an LPN, then as an RN. Sharon moved to Omaha for “376” days and worked as a nurse there before returning home and continuing her job as an RN in the hospital. In 2010, she accepted the position as MDS Coordinator for MCC.

Sharon was born in Phoenix, AZ, and moved to Aurora at the age of five. She graduated from Aurora High School, and was determined that her three children would graduate from Aurora also. Sharon’s two oldest children have since graduated from Wayne State College and are now living in Denver, CO. Her youngest son is a Junior at Aurora High School. When Sharon is not at work, she enjoys keeping active, riding her bike sometimes 10-20 miles in an evening. She spends a lot of time outdoors taking pictures or with her plants. Sharon’s son has a bearded dragon that she helps care for daily. Right now she is looking forward to September when football season begins. She is an avid fan, with her favorite teams being the Huskers, and of course, the Aurora Huskies. Her son is in the band so she enjoys hearing him play during the games. Sharon’s other hobby is her collection of dolls. If you are ever at MCC to visit, stop by her office and see her beautiful dolls as she changes them for the seasons. She says she feels blessed to be able to live and work in Aurora.

Meet our Staff: Sharon RN/MDS Coordinator

Charlie was born on his family farm by Kenesaw, NE. He had four sisters and two brothers, and is the second youngest. Charlie graduated from Gibbon High School. After graduation, he joined the Air Force where he served five years during WWII. While serving in the Air Force, he met his wife, Metta, at a dance in a suburb of St. Louis. After the Air Force, Charlie attended UNL and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Agriculture. He was a teacher until he received his Master’s degree in Ag Business/Economics. After finishing school, he owned a realty company and had a tree farm. Metta was a homemaker and a mother. Charlie and Metta had three children, a daughter and two sons. He also has three granddaughters, two grandsons, and ten great grandchildren. Charlie is a member of the Lutheran Church in Aurora. After his time in the service, he joined the Legion in Shelton and has been a member ever since. He enjoys reminiscing about his farm and his service in the Air Force, but most of all, he loves to tell about how proud he is of his children. Charlie has been a Mason at the Grand Lodge Nebraska since 1945! He was recently awarded the Bronze Jordan Medal for being the oldest member. Charlie enjoys a good laugh and making other people laugh. His favorite thing to do is play pitch, so if you are ever up for a good game, count Charlie in.

Notes from Social Service The Memorial Community Care Social Work has teamed up with the Alzheimer's Association® to host an Alzheimer's Support Group. The group will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month from 2:30 – 3:30 PM at Memorial Community Health – Hospital Conference Room. Alzheimer’s Association® caregiver support groups, conducted by trained facilitators, are a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of persons with dementia to develop a support system, exchange practical information on caregiving challenges and possible solutions, talk through issues and ways of coping, share feelings, needs and concerns and also to learn about community resources. For questions regarding the group please contact group facilitators Jennifer and/or Jessica at 402-694-8260.

Morsels N’ More… Pizza Crescent Ring

Instructions: Heat oven to 375°F

Unroll both cans of dough; separate into 8 rectangles. On ungreased cookie sheet, arrange rectangles in ring so short sides of rectangle form a 5-inch circle in center. Dough will overlap.

Spread 1/2 cup of the pizza sauce, then 3/4 cup of cheese. Arrange the pepperoni and the Canadian bacon around over lapping them, spread another 1/4 cup sauce and remaining mozzarella cheese.

Bring each dough rectangle up over filling, tucking dough under bottom layer of dough to secure it. Repeat around ring until entire filling is enclosed (some filling should show a little).

Brush top of dough with melted butter, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until dough is golden brown and thoroughly baked. Cool 5 to 10 minutes. Heat the rest of the pizza sauce to serve for dipping.

Ingredients: 1 7 oz. pkg. pepperoni 1 6 oz. pkg. Canadian bacon 1 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese 1 1/2 cup pizza sauce 2 cans 8 oz. each crescent rolls 1 Tbsp. butter, melted 1 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
