The design of this stair helped me better understand how to manipulate curvelinear forms to create usable space and sculpture to then activate it.

The goal of this team project was to effectively design a 10’ x 10’ box for outside in the college courtyard that would allow light into the space while still creating a complete visual barrier. Our solution was a layered system of colored plastic, framing and black sheet that carried through a patterned gradient of warm and cool tones. In SketchUp I was able to model the space to provide a reference during construction for direction of bracing and placement of individual elements.

This is a proposal for the redesign of the courtyard in our college. It uses a radial path layout to connect a variety of outdoor spaces for socializing, critiquing art and picnicking. A new access point to the graduate studio encourages circulation through the courtyard, which is sunken 8 feet to make the space more private, creating areas for outdoor critiques.

Here I looked at design as a process while exploring spatial sequence, the relationship between interior and exterior space, and how a concept is influenced by structural organization and material integration through design-build. I also studied the habits of human behavior alone and with built-form to understand site as human interface.

The final design showcased overlapping triangles that direct the flow of people either into an exterior cafe or through a long gallery toward a view area and place for reading and study.

These construction documents were an AutoCAD assigment that incorporated a comprehensive understanding of wall assemblies including masonry, steel frame, and wood frame.

The real and ideal was a project in which I examined where I lived as a piece of architecture, documented the existing conditions, and designed the ideal place to read, study, and relax. By dividing the space into three zones, I created multivalent spaces, including an area for both dining and working, an area for entertaining, and a lounge to read and relax against a wall of afternoon light. real and ideal

This design project in this studio was a live-work apartment that took a variety of factors into consideration, including context, economy, and market demographics. The wedge shaped plan served to be an spatially efficient method, so rooms won’t cost much; it also created a sequence as one enters and is drawn past a series of transparent barriers that visually extend you outside. Drawings and renderings are done in Revit Architecture.

Precast concrete panel skin saves money normally spent onsite to pour; daylighting and ventilation is achieved through the orientation of glazing and the use of passive design.
