MissionMissionMissionMission
The BU Mind and Brain Society is a group for students interested in a wide range of disciplines from computer science to biology to philosophy. We ask pressing questions about one of life’s most controversial topics in a casual forum of mutual respect. We to hope to one day understand something greater than ourselves in an intellectual, social and leisurely way.

While the club is organized into separate divisions, there is plenty of crosstalk and we encourage all to be involved in multiple ways.
You will hear a bit from the coordinators and something about all of the things we do.
Sit back, relax and find something you like! Afterward, approach the coordinator and get yourself involved!

We have a strict timeline and must stick to it in order to meet our goal of publication on Dec.1
The decision to participate is serious and requires significant extra work
Be prepared, cool, calm and collected - it will make the process much more manageable
Don’t bite off more than you can chew!

OpportunitiesOpportunitiesOpportunitiesOpportunities
Opportunities are prioritized by interest and commitment to MBS
Certain dress codes apply to specific physicians
If you miss your scheduled appointment without making an effort days in advance to cancel, you will not have a second chance to shadow.
Times depend on doctors, but we meet every so often to discuss what we can do to make it easier on them
The first opportunity is September 21st !!!

What is Interaxon? What is Interaxon? What is Interaxon? What is Interaxon?
InterAxon is a undergraduate-run educational outreach program dedicated to teaching young students about neuroscience and promoting an interest in higher education.
Originally founded at UCLA in 2006, the group has expanded to many other universities along both east and west coasts and now hopes to expand to BU through MBS!

How InterAxon WorksHow InterAxon WorksHow InterAxon WorksHow InterAxon Works
By traveling to disadvantages high schools, middle schools and elementary schools in communities near the university, Interaxon @ BU will provide students with lessons about neuroscience that they may normally not have in their curriculums.
By engaging with these students through fun, interactive lessons and activities, we hope to encourage an interest in both neuroscience and sciences itself!

If you’re a student with a strong background in psychology, neuroscience or neurobiology and love to interact with kids of all ages, or just enjoy teaching/hearing the sound of your own voice, then step on up!
Start helping us to contact administrators of local high schools, middle schools and elementary schools in the Boston area to start pitching InterAxon to them!
Brainstorm cool, creative lesson plans and activities for students of all ages.
Finally, go and teach some kids about neuroscience and feel really smart because you are in college and know more than them about stuff!
For more info and guidelines, check out http://interaxon-outreach.org/ for the UCLA site to see what this organization could be like at BU!
