    MEDICAL ENTRANCE EXAMS

    OVERVIEW

    The National level Medical Entrance Tests are open to students withoutreference to their place of domicile. Medical Entrance Tests conductedat the State level are meant for students of State domicile. The basicrequirement is that students should be at least 17 years old on or before31st December of the year of admission; the upper age limit where

    prescribed is 25 years. Candidates must have completed Std. XII or itsequivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

    I. NATIONAL-LEVEL MEDICAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS

    (i) All India Pre-Medical Pre-Dental Test (AIPMT)*

    The AIPMT is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) every year, for admission to the 15% merit based seats of the total

    every year in Indian Medical Colleges. The

    entrance examinations are many and the

    competition tough. Yet a bright and hardworking

    student can be selected by several Medical

    Colleges from which he/she can choose the onehe/she wants to attend.

    A student can appear for several Entrance

    Examinations in the same year. In fact, every year,

    most of our students appear for two or more Entrance

    Exams and are selected for admission by more than

    one Medical College, from which they then choose

    the Institution they want to join.

    in-take capacity of specified Medical /Dental Colleges located in all Statesexcept Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Candidates belonging tothese two states are not eligible for admission to the AIPMT. If they claimeligibility they must produce an affidavit in the form prescribed that (a) theyare not eligible to seek admission to Medical Colleges of

    Andhra Pradesh /Jammu & Kashmir and

    (b) they are not domiciled in Andhra Pradesh or Jammu & Kashmir.

    Eligibility and Qualifications for AIPMT

    Only Indian Nationals are eligible.

    The candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or beforeDecember 31st of the year of admission.

    The upper age limit is 25 years on 31st December of the year of theEntrance Examination (30 years for candidates of SC/ST/OBC)

    The number of attempts which a candidate can avail shall be limitedto 3 (three) for all candidates.

    The minimum qualification is a pass in the 12th standard of the 10 +2course (Higher/Senior Secondary Exams or 2nd year if Pre/Intermediate pre-degree Exam) in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry

    Biology and English individually; a minimum of 50% marks takentogether in PCB (40% in the case of SC/ST/OBC candidates) isrequired. Those who are taking the Std XII examination whose resultis awaited may also appear for the Entrance Examination subject totheir fulfilling the conditions later.

    Pattern of AIPMT

    The Entrance Examination consists of :

    A Preliminary Examination in April consisting of one paper

    containing 200 objective type questions in Physics, Chemistry andBiology (Botany & Zoology) of three hours' duration.

    A Final Examination in May only for those who qualify in thePreliminary Examination, also consisting of a single paper, which willcontain questions in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

    The Final Exam will also have only objective type questions.

    (ii) Other Medical Entrance Examinations

    There are several Medical Colleges where seats are open to Indian

    Nationals through Entrance Examinations without any domicile conditions,

    some of which are: All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS)

    Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (AFMC). Admitted candidates

    have compulsory liability to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Service

    after graduation.

    These other Medical Entrance Examinations are generally conducted

    between April and August; some examination authorities stipulate higherminimum/aggregate marks in English and for Physics, Chemistry &Biology taken together

    II. STATE MEDICAL TESTS

    A candidate satisfying the domicile conditions of a state can appear for oneof the State Medical Tests. In most cases the selection is made through anEntrance Examination conducted for this purpose

    The Examinations are generally held between April and August. The

    actual dates of the examinations, the syllabus prescribed, if any, and

    other details are announced in the information bulletins for the

    examinations issued by the respective Testing Authorities.

    It is the students responsibility to watch for publication of these

    bulletins and ensure compliance with all requirements of the

    respective Entrance Examinations.

    Enrolment

    Enrolment for this course is open to all students who have passed Std.

    Tests) will open on January 01, 2010. Students can enrol at any time

    Medium of Instruction

    The course material is in the English medium, and only students who

    can follow our lessons in English should apply for enrolment.

    Despatch of course material will begin in April 2010. Subsequent sets

    will be sent at roughly monthly intervals. Material is normally sent byParcel Post or by private courier services.

    Students who enrol after October 2010 will be sent all the material inone lot.

    COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

    Course Contents

    This course teaches the subjects from fundamentals, drills students with

    graded exercises, guides them with periodic Postal Tests and evaluatesthem with B.NET, Brilliants National Evaluation Tests for MedicalEntrance.

    The Course Material: Lessons and Assignments

    The study material is presented in seven sets of lessons and assignments. The theory notes are elaborate with topics fully explained and with a

    number of objective questions and worked examples.

    Each lesson is followed by an Assignment with Objective Questions. The

    problems will initiate students into problem solving with exercises on thespecific topics covered in that lesson; the problems will be on par with the

    All-India Pm/Pd Test standard objective questions.

    The Assignments, given at the end of each lesson, in each of the three

    subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will help students understand thesubject, gain practice in solving problems and become familiar with the

    subject matter of the course.

    The student should study the theory well, systematically work the assignmentsand should then compare his/her working with the fully worked-out

    solutions which will be provided in the subsequent set.

    Postal Tests

    There will be 3 sets of Postal Tests modelled on the CBSE Pm/Pdduring the One-year Course: each set of Tests will consist of two

    papers: i. a 3 - hour Prelim objective paper with questions in Physics,Chemistry and Biology and ii. a Final objective paper in Physics, Chemistryand Biology.

    These Tests will be sent with Sets 2, 4 and 6 respectively, and willinclude topics covered in the preceding Sets. Solutions will be sent withthe subsequent Set.

    Students should self-administer the Tests strictly under examination

    conditions, and finish each paper in one sitting within the specified timelimit, without referring to the study materials.

    MED.QB (MEDICAL QUESTION BANK) AND SELF - SCORERS

    Med.QB (Medical Question Bank)

    Brilliants Question Bank for Medical Entrance will be issued as a part ofour One-year Course. This contains over 3000 objective questions

    topic-wise in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with keys and explanatorynotes for select questions.

    Self - Scorers

    The full syllabus Self-Scorers consist of 2000 objective questions in 12 setsof Test papers, containing objective questions in Physics, Chemistry andBiology with keys. Students should attempt these as Home-based Tests

    A total of four B.NET Progressive Tests will be conducted for ourstudents. All these are National Sit-down Tests conducted at variouscentres around the country in August and October 2010.

    Full-Syllabus Medical Entrance Simulator Test Series (home-based)

    Thirteen Sets of Full-Syllabus Test Papers, simulating the pattern of

    CBSEs All-India Pm/Pd Test (Prelim and Final), will be sent to studentsenrolled in this course. Eight of these Sets will be sent with the seventh setof course material and the last five sets, also containing objective questions,

    will be sent when we receive a photocopy of the student's Hall Ticketsclearly showing the Registration Numbers and Photographs for theMedical Entrance Examinations.

    These Test Papers contain a total of 2200 questions, on the pattern ofCBSE's Pm/Pd Final Exam. These will meet the requirements of the Pm/

    Pd Final Exam, as well as that of all other Entrance Examinations.The keys to the Objective Papers and solutions to the problems to theseTest Papers will be sent with the Test Papers. The student should self-administer each paper under strict examination conditions and should thencompare his/her answers with the keys provided.

    This Full-Syllabus Test Series, together with the 7 Final National Sit-downB.NET Series to be conducted in 15 cities between December 2010 and

    February 2011, should enable students to face Medical Entrance 2011 withsupreme self-confidence.

    Only students enrolled thirty days before the date of any Test willbe eligible to attend that Test.

    The B.NET Test Series

    The Enrolment Form lists the Centres for the B.NET Tests. Studentsshould indicate the Centre of their choice the B.NET Test Series.

    No change in the Centre will normally be allowed. Any subsequent

    change in the Centre allotted will be considered only in exceptional cases

    and where the student applies to us in advance and receives our written

    approval.

    All students should send us, by Registered Post, a photo copy of their Hall Ticketsfor the 2011 Medical Entrance Exams that they plan to appear in, along with a copyof the BT Admit Card with the photograph visible. Students who do not send us theirRegistration Numbers before the Entrance Exams are conducted, will not be eligibleto claim the prize.

    This Prize Scheme is applicable only to the All-India Ranks of General Category andnot to the Ranks under any group or reserved category such as SC, ST, Defence, etc.

    Students enrolled with us and declared successful for admission to the MBBS Course

    only will be eligible for this prize scheme and not students declared successful for otherbranches like Ayurvedic, Homeopathic, Unnani Medicine etc.

    The course material was very exhaustive. The B.NET tests were like the

    real exams. The Biology materials were very informative. It provided
