DESCRIPTION: The Mazamboni Equestrian Centre was created in 2002 by the current owners in the grounds of The Furzehill Estate. TheEstate was originally the home to the British explorer, Sir Henry Morton Stanley (1841-1904) who travelled extensively in Africa during theNineteenth Century and famously found Dr. Livingstone in the Congo.Stanley spent the last years of his life on the farm in Pirbright which he renamed Mazamboni. Various parts of the estate are also named afterplaces he visited in Africa. The approach to the Centre is past the stunning lake called Stanley Pool, the Congo River runs through the estateand the Ruwenzori Hill stands at its centre.The centre is situated at the end of the long driveway past the the lake and through tall wrought iron entrance gates.The present owners have spent considerable time and money in creating the existing centre, in many cases making use of the existingsubstantial range of farm buildings to create the stabling, but also building 2 new stable blocks with blockwork walls with flint decorativeexternal facings, tiled roofs and internal partitioning. In all the stable blocks all the stable doors and doorways have been supplied by eitherScotts or Harlow Stables. Whilst the excess space between the back and front rows of the stables rug or secure tack rooms have beencreated.
