Mayor Khonghun delivers SOMA By Alyanna Marie Valencia “Tuloy- tuloy ang pagtulong, tuloy- tuloy ang pagsulong tungo sa Subic City”, a statement stressed by Mayor jay Khonghun in his state of the Municipality Address (SOMA) held at Subic Central School last August 6. The event was attended by approximately 1000 individuals who are composed of representatives of numerous businesses in Subic, government workers, Singaporean representatives, town policemen, barangay health workers and municipal workers, Sangguniang Bayan members and General Parent-Teachers Association (GPTA) officers from different schools. The speech delivered by Mayor Khonghun mainly focused on the progression of Subic and his accomplishments this year, highlighting projects pursued to maximize public service. “Hindi lingid sa ating kaalaman na ang bayan ng Subic ay isa sa pinakaprogresibong lugar na hindi lamang sa lalawigan ng Zambales kundi sa buong Gitnang Luzon at kung hindi man, maaring sa buong bansa”, said Khonghun. Projects emphasized by Khonghun in the field of agriculture were purchasing of modern equipment in farming, extensive research in proper caring of plantation, ‘Demo farm’ for community breed banking, refresher courses for pest and disease management, and ‘Technology Clinic and Information’ campaign which provides introductory course on low cost fertilizer usage via internet encoding. Khonghun also featured various social services administered by Municipal Social Welfare workers such as the supplemental feeding program, medical, burial, financial and transportation assistance, social pension for senior citizens, ‘Food for Work program’, ‘Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino’ Program, and the emergency shelter assistance. Juana, Mark Jester Dela Rosa of Josephine F. Khonghun Special Education Center in king of Math and Pan Asia Pacific Math Competition Grand Finals, and the 3rd place in the secondary level of the 2014 loth Asia Cup Stars of the Olympic Math Finals and Merit award in the 2014 Held Cup Inernational Olympic Mathematics of Russell Sanchez also from JFK SPED.He also distinguished the present and future plans for infrastructure projects which includes the reconstruction of public market, dredging of silted river for flood control, construction of foot bridge, renovation of two-unit classrooms and concreting of road with box.The speech was very remarkable. It gave me a different point of view regarding the town of Subic since it denoted abundant amount of various accomplished projects and achievements made in Khonghuns term as Mayor, said Ma.
