Mission:
To introduce, prepare, and inspire high school students of various backgrounds and potentials for a career in the healthcare industry in a summer program with continuing, longitudinal mentorship.
Goals:• Enable high school students to gain exposure to career opportunities across the healthcare industry
(emphasizing diversity, health equity, underresourced, and special populations)
• Strengthen students’ academic potential
• Motivate and prepare high school students for the college application process and to become the leaders of the future workforce

Meet our Students
Skye Adams
My name Skye Lynn Adams, I am a very extroverted individual, I’m always doing everything I possibly can to improve and expand my knowledge and succeed in life, I want to really push my limits and improve the best i can - it challenges me and gives me a goal. I was a competitive swimmer, I’d love to do that again but I am waiting for an opportunity to arise, swimming was and is a tremendous passion of mine. When it comes to socializing with people I tend to be a little shy but once you get to know me I am outgoing, this is just some random information about me, enjoy!
Courtney Alexander
My name is Courtney Alexander I am a 17-year-old junior in high school and currently working at Topgolf. I am Born and raised in Phoenix Arizona but only be out of state once. I love to explore new places and shiny things I’m also a big fan of horror movies. I have a dog named Coco and two turtles who don’t have names at all. My favorite type of weather is rain because I love how the sky looks so gloomy. My goal in life is to travel the world and speak multiple languages while pursuing a nursing career along with many others along the way.
Ava Baylis
My full name is Ava Sofia Baylis. I attend Saguaro High School and will graduate in the year 2022. At Saguaro, I’m currently enrolled in a Clinical Nursing Assistant (CNA) class in hopes to obtain my license and start to work in a hospital setting. I plan to further my education in nursing after high school and become a labor and delivery nurse. I always had a fascination for the delivery process and hope to someday work in this field. I enjoy playing tennis in my free time and play on the Saguaro Varsity tennis team. I also like volleyball, on-line gaming, and listening to music.
Makayla Carroll
Hi! I am Makayla Carroll; I am 15 years old and my passion is to be come a pediatrician. My sport is volleyball and I play Highschool, club, and sand volleyball. I love fashion design or anything that has to do with clothing or hair. I enjoy shopping and traveling with my family and friends. I can’t wait for this Clinic!

Lauren deLara
My name is Lauren deLara. I am the youngest in my family and have three older brothers. I am originally from Illinois and moved to Arizona two years ago. I am a level 10 gymnast and in my free time I enjoy playing the ukulele, the violin, hiking, camping, crafting and baking. I also like to watch movies and am a big fan of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Marvel/D.C Superheroes. I do volunteer work for Feed My Starving Children and The Anti-Cruelty Society. I am excited and look forward to this opportunity at MAYO!
Menaa Fawzi
Hello! My name is Menaa Fawzi. I was born in Iraq and moved to the United States in 2012. I speak 3 languages: Arabic, Assyrian, and English. I am currently taking AP and honors classes and my GPA is a 4.70. I am at the top of my class and very involved in school clubs and extracurricular like soccer. I was captain of my soccer team last season. I work at Dutch Bros coffee and I love speaking to new people everyday :)
Felipe Fernandez
Hi, I’m Felipe Fernandez. I am currently a sophomore but will be a junior at Phoenix Coding Academy next school year. I’m also 15 years old, going to be 16 soon. A fun fact my birthday is on July 7th! Several of my hobbies includes video/photo editing and coding. In my free time, I enjoy watching anime and playing video games. However apart from that my long term goal is to be the first male in my family to graduate high school and go to university.
Ava Hawryluk
My name is Ava Hawryluk, and I’m an incoming sophomore who seeks out opportunities in STEM and medicine, with a long-term goal of pursuing a career in a cross-section of these areas. I am a Girl Scout Senior, where I am a member of the Girl Scouts Astronomy Club and have achieved my Silver Award. Outside of academics, I am an avid volleyball player at Arizona Sky as well as a varsity swim team member.

Nixie Lewis
Hi my name is Nixie, I’m 16 years old and I’m a sophomore. Becoming a pediatric nurse or pediatric nurse practitioner is my dream. It’s always been a passion of mine to pursue something in the medical field. The reason that becoming a pediatric nurse or pediatric NP is important to me is because I have always loved children and been able to connect with them really well, and working with them and getting to be a part of the medical field is one of my biggest life goals. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. And I love being able to work on myself and grow as a person. I also love to travel, and especially to the beach.
Sarah Lopez
Hi my name is Sarah and I have 2 German Shepherds, 5 brothers, and 1 sister. I love to ride motorcycles and I have my own Honda Rebel. My mom works at Mayo Clinic and I am so excited to get the chance to be able to do this program. I have always wanted to go into the medical field and really make a difference. The medical field has always fascinated me and to be able to get my foot in the door and with such a great place like the Mayo Clinic is so exciting for me and I can’t wait to get my life in the medical field going.

My name is Christian Manuel; I am 17 years old, attending Cactus Shadows High School. I am committed to living life to the fullest without leaning towards the past and holding onto dead weights that keep me from moving forward. I consider myself responsible and mature when it comes to completing certain tasks that mean a lot for the future. As well as working on a better me, going to the gym and working out every day while keeping education in front of me at all times.

I am a rising senior at Arizona College Prep. Erie and I’m very excited to learn more about healthcare through this program. I’d like to pursue a career within the oncology field.

Jayla Richardson
My name is Jayla Richardson, I am completing my freshman year at Chaparral High School. My ten-year membership in Girl Scouts has influenced my academic and extracurricular interests. I play the flute in the wind ensemble at school and enjoy many creative hobbies. I play the piano, and sometimes compose my own music. I also enjoy drawing, watching Anime, reading, and coding. This year, my friends and I started a literary club and I serve as the vice-president. I am exploring my career options and currently interested in mental health. I look forward to participating in the Mayo Clinic Cares Program.
Garv Sharma
Hello! I am Garv Sharma, and I will be a Sophomore at ACP-Erie, Chandler in Fall, 2021. My passion is to share my blessings with everyone and bring a smile to whoever I meet. I am a lifelong learner and a naturally curious person. I don’t like to miss a beat and like to fully dedicate myself to my work. I am very excited to participate in this wonderful program and hope to bring my very best to contribute to the overall mission.
Sohani Sandhu
My name is Sohani Sandhu, and I am a rising senior at Arizona College Preparatory. I am a passionate advocate for scientific research, having led multiple research groups. These projects have won state and national awards from organizations such as MIT and ASU. One of my projects involves the development of a medical device for heat stroke prevention, which is patent pending and backed by my company. I am also the President of my school’s Research Club, dedicated to helping others develop their own projects. In the future, I hope to further develop my research skills while pursuing a career in the medical care industry.
