relaxed and welcoming atmosphere!

Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
FORMALITYBe professional! Hold yourself to ahigh standard by having integrity
when people can AND can't see you.
HUMOURHaving a little bit of humour breaksthe ice and allows people to become
closer faster.
AWARENESSBe aware of your surroundings.
Does someone need directions? Isthere a job that needs to be done?
Keep an eye open for what is goingon around you.
ACCEPTANCEEveryone is different! Ensure that
students feel that they can askquestions and engage comfortably
with the MU community.

B E I N G A R E S O U R C EFamiliarize yourself with various campus resources that you feel
a first-year student would need. Here are a few tips:
Introduce students to various faculty and staff members whom you know
Talk about involvement opportunities available for them and how to take the first step to get
involved.
Talk about various resources such as: The Career Centre, the Library, Writing Centre, Book Shop,
Counseling and Budgeting services, sports facilities, clubs, socs., and more.
Relaying your personal experiences at Maynooth provide a great resource for students.
