Infinity Support System - Quick Easy Set-up Instructions

The Infinity Support System attaches to any

MAYFIELD® Base Unit to provide a method

for simultaneous application of a head

support (Adult, Pediatric or General Purpose)

and a skull clamp (patient ages 5+)

– This is especially important for patients who

require a low clamping force to stabilize the

position of the head.

patients with short neck

lengths.

Infinity Coupler (419B1010)

Coupler easily mounts to any

MAYFIELD Base Unit.

Head supports can be

adjusted vertically and

laterally for flexibility in

patient positioning, then

securely locked in place.

Position of head support can

be tilted on ball socket joint

and locked in place.

Infinity Adult Horseshoe Headrest (419A1031)

Provides cranial support for

adults and older children in

either prone or supine

positions.

Adjustable pad base

(faceplates) accommodates

various head sizes.

Fluid resistant gel pads

reduction in the incidence of

necrosis.


Infinity Pediatric Horseshoe Headrest (419A1030)

Provides cranial support in

either prone or supine

positions for infants and

young children.

Same benefits of the Infinity

Adult Horseshoe.


Infinity General Purpose Headrest (419A1050)

Provides cranial support in

either supine or semi-sitting

procedures.

Mini gel pads can be

positioned in multiple

receptacles and can be titled

on their hinges.


Infinity Support System - Assembly of the System

Assembly of the Infinity Coupler to the

MAYFIELD Base Unit of your choice.

1. Slide Coupler onto Base Unit

2. Place desired Headrest into Coupler

3. Position Coupler with Headrest to Base Unit

Supports

4. Secure Infinity into place



Slide Coupler onto Base

Unit

– Place the Coupler onto the

Base Unit with the Gear Rack

Assembly towards the top and

the Gear Housing Lock Knob

facing the OR table.

(Note: Do not lock into place

until Headrest is in position.)

– Secure the Base Unit to the

OR table as you normally do.



Place Desired Headrest

into Coupler

– Choose desired Headrest

and firmly place into Gear

Rack Assembly.

– Tighten the Gear Rack

Assembly to secure the

Headrest in the Coupler.



Position Coupler with

Headrest to Base Unit

Supports

– Secure the Coupler to the

Base Unit Supports by

tightening the two lock knobs

on the Coupler.

(Note: Position the Headrest

as close as possible to the OR

table for optimal support)



Secure Infinity into

place

– By tightening the Gear

Housing Lock Knob,

movement will be

restricted.

– Lateral adjustments for

head size are made

using the knob located

just under gel pads.


Infinity Support System Using a MAYFIELD Skull Clamp

The Infinity Support System provides total support of the patient’s head. Many times, for many procedures, surgeons require the patient’s head to be stabilized or fixed while doing image-guided surgery or other delicate procedures.

The design of the Infinity Support System allows for the use of a MAYFIELD Skull Clamp in conjunction with the Infinity Support System… providing the needed stabilization and fixation.


Infinity Support System Attachment of the MAYFIELD Skull Clamp

With the patient positioned on the Infinity Support System Headrest, apply the MAYFIELD Skull Clamp to the patient’s head in the same manner as you would normally.

Special considerations should be made to position the skull pins properly on the patient’s head as per the product insert. It is also important to position them away from the surgical site but within the “sweatband” area of the head.


Infinity Support System Using a MAYFIELD Skull Clamp

With the skull clamp affixed to the patient’s head, rotate the clamp down underneath the headrest and then bring up the swivel adaptor and transitional member for connection to the Base Unit.

Once in position, lock the handle and tighten all locking knobs.
