Term 2 ends: Friday 05.07.2019
Term 3 begins: Tuesday 23.07.2019
In the first week of Term 2 we commemorated ANZAC day. The official ceremonies were conducted on 25 April but as this date fell in the holidays we had ours in May. Mr Roy Pearson OAM and his son Greg, joined us and spoke to the children about how we should
all try very hard to avoid conflict. Greg reminded students that peaceful behaviour starts in the playground. Great message!
This month Tana, the German Shepherd, came to visit with her handler Evonne. Together they demonstrated to students how to safely approach a dog and recognise some dog behaviours. Tana was a very patient teacher. Pics p6
I hope all the mums had a lovely Mother’s Day and enjoyed the presents that the children purchased. They had lots of fun shopping. Thank you to the P&C mums for organising the stalls. Pics p7
Chief Paul was back again this term for his chilled out Yoga classes. The students enthusiastically attempted the poses and the vibe in the room was very zen. Pics p8&9.
The whole school boarded buses to see a performance at the Opera House. The performance was based on the well known book ‘There’s a Sea in My Bedroom’. It’s always exciting to go to
the Opera House and the beautiful weather made playing in the Botanic Gardens a delight. Pics p10&11.
Jelly beans have also been making the most of the warm autumn sunshine, spending lots of time in their outdoor environment. See what they got up to on p12.
In anticipation of the inevitable arrival of the cooler darker months of winter, we investigated how germs get transmitted from person to person by using green paint on our hands. Students were also shown how to cough or sneeze into their elbow to reduce the danger of infecting others close by. The weather was very pleasant for our ‘Walk to School Day’. Great to see lots of kids using their legs and enjoying their local neighbourhood. AWIS staff volunteered to operate a sausage sizzle on election day. The weather was fantastic and everyone enjoyed time with their
community. The kids loved being able to play on the equipment on the weekend and I caught up with lots of old friends. We raised over $900 which will be used to subsidize our farm excursion in Term 3.
