purchased your animal & a blank copy of the 4-H project record book. If you did not attend your
mtg., you can pick them up at the Ext. Ofc. If you prefer to fill out your record book on the
computer, contact the Ext. Ofc. & we will be happy to email you a copy of the record book in
word form.
CHECKS ARE IN!!! In order to pick up your check, you must turn in a
completed & signed project record book & a copy of the thank-you letters that were written to all buyers.
A signature from the exhibitor, parent or legal guardian will also be required to receive your check.
***ALL CHECKS WILL BE PICKED UP FROM THE EXTENSION OFFICE BY THE EXHIBITOR OR
LEGAL GAURDIAN***

Kerr 4-H Project Center
Pens are filling up fast. If you are wanting a pen in the project center for your
2016 animal projects, please come by the Extension Office to get on the list. Pens are
limited & will fill on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The fee for lambs & goats is $50/pen ; hogs will be $50 for first hog & $25 for a second hog in the same pen. Pens are limited
to one pen per youth.
Those that used the Project Center last year have first priority this year & have until the end of May to get signed up.
After this date all Kerr 4-H Members will be able to sign up based on available space.

If you need help in selecting your lamb or goat
projects for the 2016 show season, please call the
Extension Office to make arrangements with Roy.

“Fellowship of the Robot”!!! They have been invited & will participate
in the National Razorback Invitational at the University of Arkansas.
Above left is the robot they have created, and at right they are practicing
maneuvers, preparing for their competition this summer.

Texas 4-H Roundup is a qualifying and invitational event for youth 3rd grade thru 12th that have
successfully placed in a qualifying event at the County & District level or signed up to compete in an
invitational event at The state level. Texas 4-H Roundup includes approximately 50 different contest and
workshops that test 4-H members on life skills in such attributes are decision making, public speaking,
organization, and working with others. These contest include such things as Fashion Show, Food Show, and
assortment of judging contests, and educational presentations.
Location and Dates…….The District Judging Qualifying event will be Wednesday, April 29th in Junction
The District 10 4-H Roundup Qualifying event will be held May 2nd, location TBA
The 2015 Texas 4-H Roundup will be held in College Station, Texas on the campus of Texas A&M
University from June 8th to June 12th, 2015.
Regular Registration: April 6th thru May 15th
Late Registration: May 16th thru May 22nd (there will be a $50 late fee)

District 10 Record Book Contest
The District 10 Record book Judging will be held on Thursday, July 9th,
location TBA. We have record book covers available at the Ext. Ofc.
for $3. If you are planning on submitting a record book for the District
competition they are due in the Extension Office by Wednesday, July 1st.

Aggieland Lamb & Goat Camps What: Aggieland™ Lamb & Goat Camps – a 3-day program dedicated to teaching parents and students the fundamentals of feeding, nutrition, health, facilities, selection, and showmanship.
When:
Lamb Camp – Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. – Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3 p.m.
Goat Camp – Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. – Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 3 p.m.
Where: College Station, TX – Pearce Pavilion
Cost: Campers: $150 – Adult/Sponsor: $60
Who: Anyone ages 8 years old and older
Registration: An online registration link will become available on March 18, 2015 at noon, on the
website: http://animalscience.tamu.edu/ .
Release Form: After completing registration, please submit a camper release form. Release form
are only needed for campers; adults do not need to submit the form.
Please print and complete the Recognition and Assumption of Risk Agreement and Physician Release
Form found below.
The form may be sent to our office prior to camp either by scanning and emailing
[email protected] or by fax, 979-458-3294.
Hotel Information: Aggieland Lamb & Goat Camp does not provide dorms for campers. Parents/
Sponsors and campers must make their own hotel reservations. Hotel information will be posted when it
becomes available.

Rules and Resource Guide
When: June 19-21, 2015
Where: Collin County Adventure Camp; Anna, TX (Google map)
Registration: 4-H Connect - opens May 1 – May 31, 2015
Contest Fee: $30/per contestant
Lodging & Meals Options:
$100/person – two nights + 5 meals
Lodging is available and encouraged for contestants and non-contestants
Dorm lodging is for Friday and Saturday night
3 meals on Saturday and 2 on Sunday
Non-contestants must register on 4-H Connect in order to select and pay for lodging and meals (must be selected/paid for in advance)
Adults choosing to lodge on site, must be actively enrolled on 4-H Connect. Please note that background screenings may take up to 2 weeks, so please plan accordingly.
The Outdoor Challenge committee is not responsible for providing chaperones. If counties are sending any youth without a parent or legal guardian, the appointed chaperone must follow the child protection procedures outlined in the Texas 4-H Youth Protection guidelines, administered by their respective county Extension office. Parents, legal guardians, and/or chaperones will be responsible for youth and must remain on-site through the duration of the Outdoor Challenge.
Age Divisions and Classes
● Youth must be active 4-H members 8-18 years old as of September 1, 2014
● Three age divisions for this event are:
o Juniors = 8, 9, or 10 (as of September 1, 2014)
o Intermediates = 11, 12, or 13 (as of September 1, 2014)
o Seniors = 14 -18 (as of September 1, 2014); must not have turned 19 by that date
● A team member is allowed to move up an age division in order to complete a team; however, a member may not move down to a younger age division.
● Each age division will be divided into three gender classes:
o both male
o both female
o coed (1 male, 1 female)
2014 Texas Pork Industry Conference & Youth Symposium
The Y.O. Ranch Hotel & Conference Center Kerrville, Texas July 11-12, 2014
The conference will once again be held in the beautiful Hill Country at the YO Ranch Hotel & Conference Center in Kerrville on July 10-11. As always, we’ll kick things off Friday evening with the family cookout and festivities & begin the producer sessions and youth symposium Saturday morning. The conference will wrap up with good food and fellowship at the FUN auction and awards banquet where we will recognize our state’s great producers.
Very soon, updates regarding the conference schedule and speakers will be posted on the new website, and registration will soon be available online at http://texaspork.org/.
So mark your calendars, and get ready to interact, learn and progress at the 2015 Texas Pork Industry Conference.
Texas Youth Range Workshop
Youth, age 14-18, are eligible to participate in this week-long, hands-on workshop. Participants are exposed to actual land management practices and decisions through field trips to ranches and a wildlife management area. These field trips bring out facts on goals of land ownership and the responses of vegetation to practices conducted for livestock, wildlife, recreation, and rangeland restoration. All examples will be real-life applications. The camp is headquartered on the Texas Tech University-Junction campus. Applications will be accepted until 40 participants have been selected, can be mailed or faxed and can be found at:

Youth Agricultural Lifetime Leadership Tour
July 26-31, 2015
The Youth Agricultural Lifetime Leadership opportunity is a 6 day
exploration for youth in District 10 to experience West Texas
agricultural production.
4-H members that have a strong interest in production agriculture and will be outgoing high
school freshmen through outgoing seniors are invited to apply. 30 participants will be selected
by application.
Participants will learn the value of technology in livestock and crop
production from a commercial perspective. Crop related technology will
include the role genetic modification plays in reducing production costs
to producers and helps in limiting the use of pesticides.
Participants will also see the importance technology plays in dairy
production from a feed monitoring standpoint to its role in milk
production monitoring of dairy cattle.
The importance of embryo transfer and artificial insemination will also be discussed, as well as he role it plays in improving profitability and beef
quality.
