Wholesome Reading & Bible-Based Education

A Heavenly Stream

W hen we think of the character and quality of God, and look at the blessings He showers

upon us, one truth becomes evident—God loves to give.

Yes, God loves to give, and He gives gener-ously. Psalm 68:19 declares, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.” God is not stingy. He loads us with benefits, every day. We wake up in the morning and are immediately inundated with benefits. We open our eyes and we can see. We open our mouths and we can sing. We greet someone we love with a smile and enjoy a smile in return. Benefits. Countless benefits, loading our lives and making us rich.

James 1:17 tells us that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh

down from the Father of lights.” Can you imagine how the sky would look if we could literally see, for just one minute, every one of these gifts descending upon us from Heaven? Imagine the congestion! Food, clothing, breath, hugs, children, protection, mercy, knowledge, and love flowing in a never-ending stream! All this from the generous God who delights to flood His people with a mighty Amazon of blessing. With such a reality in our life, how can we whine? How dare we complain?

Lord, open our spiritual eyes. May we see Your

generous spirit in a new way, and reflect the glory

of Your care. Amen.

children, so that we do them without even thinking about them—that’s what makes themcustoms. Customs in Bible times were different than our customs. In Bible 500 you willlearn about some Bible customs.

1. According to the custom, what would happen to Abram’s possessions if he died withouthaving a child?

A covenant is a solemn agreement or promise. It is like a contract between two people, and it usually requires both parties to meet certain conditions. In Abram’s time, whenmen made a covenant, they cut up animals to make a sacrifice. Then, each man walkedbetween the cut-up pieces of the sacrifice. This represented each man’s commitment tokeep his part of the covenant. When God caused the torch to pass between the pieces ofthe sacrifice, it was a sign to Abram that God would keep His covenant.

2. Why did men walk between the pieces of a sacrifice?

New! Pentime Penmanship Books

New! Sunrise Bible 5 This latest addition to our new Sunrise Bible program begins a study of the Old Testament, starting with Creation and ending with the life of Moses. Each lesson contains a well-written Bible story followed by workbook activities. Map exercises help students

understand the geography corre-sponding to the lessons.

Developed for use in Amish schools, this program is designed to teach children handwriting with minimum assistance. We are carrying this series as a supplement to CLE Language Arts for those students needing extra penmanship practice. Black-and-white workbooks help students master the skill of manu-script writing, transition into cursive, and continue to build cursive skills using smaller and smaller lines. Books four through eight provide continuous practice by copying longer and longer paragraphs.

New!

SummerBible SchoolNew! Grade 4 Stories of Joshua, Judges, and Kings

From Joshua to Ruth to Solomon, from Achan to Samson to King Saul, the lives of dynamic characters in Israel are compelling examples (and warnings!) to students today. In those times God strengthened the wavering, rewarded stalwart faith, and punished hidden sin—and He still does today.

These are the lessons learned in this new fourth grade course, the latest in our new Bible Journey Series summer Bible school program. Grades 1-3 are already available. Lord willing, next year we plan to release Kindergarten 1 and Grades 5 and 6.
