Election Rules - No campaign material may be distributed before the start of campaigning at 9 am on Monday 16 th May - Candidates with existing Facebook campaign groups must immediately make them secret (click edit page, manage permission s, then check ‘Only admins can see this page’). There must be no more than 20 admins, including myself (Duncan Smith). There must be no activity on an existing campaign group or twitter account between now and the start of campaigning - Candidates setting up new Facebook groups must ensure they are secret and have no more than 20 members (including me) before the start of campaigning - Candidate s will not be allowed to campaign in the Library at all, and not in the Hive or other IT areas during voting - Publicity must be attached only to Union House walls or in the Street, using tape or other non-marking material - Banners may be hung from the railings as long as they are firmly secured and non water-based paint is used (or mix water based paint with PVA glue) - Any material placed elsewhere must be with the permission of UEA Security, and any fines incurred will be passed on to the candidates election expenses - The Union will post one colour A4 copy of the submitted manifesto on an area of the wall of Union House. Candidates may not place their own publicity in this area - Candidates must not reproduce materials which infringe copyright - Student staff and officers are not permitted to campaign whilst working, or use any benefit they gain as a result of being staff / an officer - No candidate may broadcast on Livewire between, or have their name appear in Concrete published between, Thursday 12 th May at 5 pm and Friday 27 th May at 8 pm

-  Candidates must not move / alter / remove / deface any

publicity of other candidates, in their own election or others

-  If publicity of high value is removed by a third party it will be at

the Deputy Returning Officer’s discretion whether the candidates

budget will be increased to account for this loss

-  Candidates who are deemed by the Deputy Returning Officer 

and Returning Officer to have overspent will be removed from

the election before the count 

-  Candidates may not promote another candidate in any

publicity which has a cost (promoting candidates in other races

on Facebook / Twitter is permitted so long as it is not the main

focus of your campaign group. Candidates may be asked to

change any web publicity which the DRO deems to break thisrule)

If any candidate is seen to break these rules, please report this to the

Deputy Returning Officer.

All complaints will be resolved by the Deputy Returning Officer and the

Returning Officer, in accordance with Section D of the Constitution(Election Regulations).

It is possible to appeal a decision made by the DRO / RO, or the

removal of a candidate through the Union’s normal complaints
