PRE-KINDERGARTEN NewsThis week in Pre Kindergarten we have been thinking about the letter ‘r’ . We have had fun painting pictures of red rockets, building rockets, making racing rockets, making rainbows using rice and eating some cooked rice! We welcomed Pru and Bridgette on Tuesday. They enjoyed a busy morning with us. We are thinking about autumn and frosty mornings. We painted twisty seed pod with splashes of white to look like frost. Calla and Halle brought their puppy in for a visit! Our number is 5 and we have sung lots of songs about fiveand done some cut and paste activities too. Please come and visit ours rooms and see all the exciting things we are doing in Pre Kinder!

From the Chaplain

Rev. Tony CardHear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. (Deuteronomy 6:4, NIV)Christians have a unique understanding of God. It is complex understanding; we see God as our father and creator, the one who made the heavens and the earth; we see Jesus as the son of God, the one who came to die for our sins and be resurrected to eternal life so that we too may receive this blessing; and we see the Holy Spirit as the invisible power of God, the one who strengthens us and gives us courage for the tasks to which God has called us. We see God in three

forms but maintain a belief in one God.It was St. Augustine who said that anyone who denies the Trinity is in danger of losing his salvation, but anyone who tries to understand it is in danger of losing his mind. The concept of the Trinity, the Tri-unity of God, is one that can never be adequately explained. Many have tried, using illustrations like an egg, with its shell, yolk and white, or water which can be liquid, solid ice or steam. Some have posed a mathematical solution, suggesting that we don’t look at 1+1+1=3, but rather 1x1x1=1.Perhaps it is best left unexplained and we just accept the mystery that is God. After all, we have many other mysteries in the world which we just accept; infinite things that our finite minds can’t fathom; things that will contribute to us losing our mind if we ponder them too deeply, like what is at the end of the universe? If a black hole

sucks in all light and matter around it then where does it go? And why is it black and not bright, seeing as it has all of the light?Instead of trying to explain the Trinity we should celebrate it, remaining joyous in the way in which God has chosen to be revealed to us - not just in one way, but three, as we celebrate in song:Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty G o d i n t h r e e p e r s o n s , blessed Trinity. With every blessing,Rev. Tony Card.Thought for the week: Jesus said, “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.” (John 16:12, NIV).

NETBALL REPORTSThe weather was certainly cooler on Saturday morning but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the girls. Each week the teams are showing great skills and sportsmanship. Well done, everyone!Draw: Saturday May 25 ASC Twinkles 11:05 Court 3 Captain Zoe Cunningham ASC Hot Shots 11:05 Court 12 Captain Breahna Burgess ASC All Stars 9:55 Court 6 C aptain Kate McEwenClubhouse Duty: All Stars-June 1 Twinkles-July 20 Hotshots August 31 Gabrielle Darlington Reports on games: May 18ASC TwinklesThis Saturday the ASC Twinkles played against the Bulldogs Rubies. It was our first taste of cold winter weather but we still “SHONE” brightly winning the game with four goals! Lucy scored two goals in the first half with great attacking play by Grace, Charlee & Collette ensuring the ball remained in the Twinkles possession. Hannah & Lexie showed great precision in their throws and enthusiastic defence. The Twinkles dominated the second half; Collette scored two goals with help from Grace and Zoe. Olivia showed confidence as our centre with great passes to Maayan, Hannah & Lucy. Charlee & Lexie were very impressive in defence. The Twinkles showed how much they have improved in such a short time. Well done to Grace our player of the match. Thank you to all the parents cheering us on despite the cold and Mrs Darlington for her time and effort as our coach. Collette Lyons.ASC Hot ShotsWinter arrived with a vengeance for our third round of Netball this

week against the Eglinton Ladybugs. The first quarter saw the ball in our attacking half due to great play by Lolly, Breahna & Kate with Charlotte R scoring our first goal. The second quarter was more even with the Ladybugs getting some more possession. There were great defensive skills shown by Aria & Sophie. After half time our defence flew into action as the Ladybugs spent a lot of time in their scoring half. Great defence was shown by Jorja & Phoebe. The last quarter saw the Ladybugs go ahead on the scoreboard but we stayed in the game with some great shooting by Charlotte W. In the end we lost a close game by 2 goals. We had a great friendly game with the Ladybugs & our player of the week was Breahna. Congratulations Breahna & well done to everyone. Jorja DickieRostered off for 25.5.13 are Charlotte Whittaker and Charlotte RussellASC All Stars Vs OOT EaglesIt was a cold and chilly morning when we got to the netball courts but after warming up we were fine. We all had a great game even though it was quite difficult and it gave us a challenge. Isabella and Lauren both shot some amazing goals and gave it their best shot. Nina tried her best and stuck to her opponent like glue. Sass did some great intercepts in defence. Eliza had a great game in centre and Isabel did a brilliant job, especially as it was her first game with us. Madi was amazing and took to every position she was assigned to. No wonder she got player of the match! Well done Madi! Overall it was a great game and we’re definitely just what our name suggests ALL STARS!!! Emma Russell.

Last weekend saw All Saints’ College represented at the Dubbo Boarding Schools’ Expo for 2013. The organisers of the two day event were thrilled with the attendance numbers and we at the All Saints’ display were gratified to be the centre of much of the attention across both days, taking a record number of enquiries from families, many of whom had travelled from places as far flung Bourke and Cobar. In the wake of the Dubbo Boarding Expo, Dr Miller will host a follow up Information Evening on Tuesday 30 May at 7.30pm to be held in

the Champagne Room at the Cascades Motor Inn 147 Cobra Street Dubbo. Please pass on the message about this evening to any families who may be interested and encourage them to RSVP to Mrs Parnell 6331 3911 or email [email protected] Thursday evening the Year 7 2014 Information Presentation was held in the College Library. The attendance records continue to fall with 110 people in attendance. This event is one of the many small steps in the orientation process for our Year 7 class. Whilst the Mums and Dads were being ‘informed’ about “Stepping into Year 7” and such weighty matters as uniforms, a very happy and bubbly bunch of incoming Year 7 girls and boys had a fantastic time experimenting with iPads, making paper cranes, blowing up the science labs or just getting to know each other. My thanks to all of the many wonderful parents who braved a cold

Bathurst autumn evening and the generous staff who contributed so much to help make this event so successful. Enrolment Update

• Year 7 2014 is almost at wait-list. If you are aware of any intending applicants please ask them to get in touch soon.

• Limited places still available for All Saints’ Kindergarten Class for 2014.

• Please encourage any families known to you who are considering enrolling a child in the All Saints’ Pre-Kindergarten classes for 2014 to get in touch. Interviews for the 2, 3 and 5 day groups have commenced.

Under 10 Hummers Report

On one of the more chilly mornings at Proctor Park, the Hummers played a very enthusiastic Churches United Wallabies team. From the kick-off the Hummers were humming. In what is one of the best displays of team work I have experienced by a soccer team this age, the Hummers dominated play which some excellent passing and support play. The final score was Hummers 6 Wallabies 0. Hugo Goodlet was awarded Player of the Match for showing great determination.

6 YEARS AUDISWith Beckham’s retirement on the front pages it was only a matter of time till the Audi team members would be sought out as the next big thing. Rising stars Lachlan, Koby and Banjo ensured that the ASC Audi’s maintained a strong presence on the field but it’s the new and ever improving that was the focus of Saturday’s game. Great work Natalie, Evie and Wilson! With the opposing team having a significant size advantage it seemed as though it might be a tough game but the team stuck it out and showed that heart and not size was the name of the game. Wilson Cooney was given the medal for his amazing improvement over the past three weeks and his awesome break down the centre of the field. Excellent Work Audis!

8 YEARS BENTLEYSA much cooler Saturday morning saw us taking on a strong Collegians side. The boys all had a great game and are starting to get better at passing the ball out to the wing (well done Charlie Rendall). Congratulations to Oliver Roach who scored our very exciting goal for the match. Player of the Week this week went to Josh Hunter for his superb goal keeping skills and great sportsmanship. Thank you so much to our committed cheer squad who tirelessly support us each week, taking on the roles of time keepers, substitution officers, photographers and caterers and who give us our all-important moral support. Miss Sophie Hanigan

6 YEARS ALFASWell Proctor Park showed what could be expected with regards to the weather, with a very cool breeze, but that didn’t deter supporters from both sides. The Alfas took on the Bathurst 75 Gangsters in what was an entertaining, fast pace and end to end soccer game. Blake VanYzendoorn, David Laniya and Jake Pezzuto showed some excellent soccer skills both in attack and defence. All boys had some cracking shots at goal and also managed to put some ball into the back of the net. Josh McNamara, Blake Harris and Hayden Simm all showed that they are learning the game fast and that all the training, both on a Wednesday and at home in the backyard, is really paying off. They are all really enjoying the game, which is fantastic to watch. Blake Harris was awarded the coaches training award. Well done Blake. Jake Pezzuto was awarded the player of the week match. The award could have been given to any of the boys as they all worked very hard. Well done Jake. Again thanks to the supporters from both sides for the encouraging cheers from the sidelines. Well done to all boys for their wonderful sportsmanship. Coach Trevor Simm

7 YEARS PEUGOTSA full squad eagerly anticipated the match today against the Macquarie Bobcats. In the pre match stare-down, our hopes were elevated by a side with less physical size than last week however what they lacked in size they made up with speed and ball skills. In a non-stop game going from one end to the other each team enjoyed scoring a few goals apiece. The full squad was needed as tired bodies came to the sideline to gain their breath before entering the fray again. A tendency by some of us to enjoy watching the game (as much as the parents do) instead of getting in boots and all was not shared by Mia, a worthy winner of the weekly medal, who led from the front in every fight for possession. Passing and calling between our players was a great improvement this week. Well done to all.

10 YEARS HUMMERSOn one of the more chilly mornings at Proctor Park, the Hummers played a very enthusiastic Churches United Wallabies team.

11 YEARS JAGUARSThe Under 11 Jaguars played Bathurst 75 Wizards in a hard fought 4-4 draw last weekend. Hugh Miller was very strong in goals during the first half, making some spectacular saves. Caine Barnes was safe in defence. Sam Rendall and Ben Cant scored two goals each. Player of the Week was awarded to Ben Cant for his determination and effort throughout the entire game.

MinkeyOn a cold windy morning, Gap Students Julia and Zac and some enthusiastic parents, helped run the Minkey players through some warm up games and drills before their hockey game. The U7 Minkey team combined with Kelso to play one of the St. Pats teams. The team made some great tackles and hits, however, lost to the more experienced St. Pats team.ASC Under 11s V Souths - Saturday 18th MayOur third game saw us taking on a quite young but very determined Souths side. We welcomed a new player in Isabelle Cobcroft, who showed some great skills in her first game. Impressive work by the defenders and mid-fielders ensured that the ball was kept mostly in the South’s half. The strikers received some great balls from the midfield, and after continued pressure on the Souths goalkeeper, both Ailee and Imogen scored goals. We ended with a 2-0 victory. Everyone had a great game, and should be proud of how they played. By Darcie
