Frankston Arts Centre (FAC) is a landmark arts facility locatedclose to public transport, shops, cafes and restaurants and isserved by an underground car park.

Frankston Arts Centre features: n an 800 seat theatren a flexible function centre n a 200 seat black box theatren six exhibition spacesn and a variety of rooms and spaces available for workshops

and functions.

The FAC’s annual program features performances by nationaland international touring companies. The free exhibitionprogram showcases local and international artists and mostartwork is available for sale.

A new way to see theatreFrankston Arts Centre is pleased to introduce a new service forthose who are visually impaired. In the upcoming performanceof Jurassica an audio description of the performance will beavailable.

Audio description is the auditory narration of live performance.During gaps in dialogue, it describes visual elements such asscenes, settings, actions and costumes. Audio description isaccessed by using audio description equipment andheadphones provided by the theatre. It is discreet, easy tooperate and other theatre patrons will not even be aware thatanother audience member is using this facility. It is particularlybeneficial to people who are blind and vision impaired andpeople with print, learning and physical disabilities.

Other performances that are being made more accessible toall community members include an Auslan Interpretedperformance for George’s Marvellous Medicine and an openCaptioned performance for Hotel Sorrento. Open Captioningis where large screens display the dialogue in text.
