• Make a factor tree • Look for groups based on the radical’s index.• Move groups to the outside; leave non-groups

on the inside.• Example:

Remember…You can only add and subtract like terms.When you multiply, use FOIL or a similar

method, and remember to replace i2 with -1.

When you are dealing with division, remember to multiply the numerator and the denominator by the conjugate of the denominator.
