Summer Lunches offered at OLC This summer, in partnership with Mecklenburg School Nutrition program, OLC will be distributing free lunches for kids age 1-18 Mon.-Fri 11AM-12PM from the front of the parish life center.

Attention Men of OLC!

You are invited to a fellowship

breakfast Saturday June 4, 2016 at

9AM in the Parish Life Center. This

breakfast, sponsored by the Men’s

Group, will have a speaker with an

important message for all, especially

the youth. Male youth 13 years and

older are encouraged to attend.

Monday Bible Study The Monday Bible study group will be meeting on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 7PM in the chapel. All are welcome to attend!

Father’s Day BBQ - June 19th The YIA (Youth In Action) group will be

hosting a BBQ cookout at OLC in the

Parish Life Center June 19th from

8:00AM - 3:30in honor of the Father’s

of the Parish. Please save the date and

plan on joining us for food and

fellowship.

CPR/AED Training

A special thank you to Mr. Willie Thompson, the OLC Ushers, and the OLC Men’s Group for sponsoring this much needed training. The training will allow the use of the CPR technique and the portable defibrillator devices located in the church and parish life center. Thank you to the following parishioners who volunteered their time to be trained: Richard Cutting, Michael Daniels, Jermaine Dennis, Darryl King, Shawn Lawrence, Catherine Nimmons, Larré Patterson, Harry Scott, Denise Shropshire, William Utley, Henry Wallace.

Another training session will be held in the PLC. We are currently recruiting more volunteers to take the training. There is specific need for volunteers who regularly attend the 8AM and 5PM Masses. Please see Pat McDonald or call at 704-597-1784 the Parish Office for more information. Thank you!

Reflection

Fed by the Lord

Jesus’ words “This is my body” and “This

cup is the covenant in my blood” were

only a part of his table blessing. Jesus

twice said “Do this in remembrance of

me” (1 Corinthians 11:24-25).

This is the food news of today’s

solemnity. Like the five thousand hungry

souls, we are fed by our Lord. This is not

food that satisfies for only a short time,

until the next meal. It is food that lasts

and changes us. It is food for sharing in

much the same way as Melchizedek did

when he brought bread and wine to the

returning Abraham,.

As children of God’s reign,

we are blessed to be able

to receive and share

God’s gift. And we do so in the way

most appropriate to our state in life -

as parents, children, husbands, wives, or
