Dear families,

We hope that you are safe and well! We want to take this time to update you on important information about the

remainder of the school year and what to expect.This packet is our last packet of the 2019-2020 school year and

it includes summer homework. Our last day of social hour will be Thursday, June 4th. We will send out sign up

sheets by email for our last Parent-Teacher Conference of the year, which will take place the week of June

8th-12th.

As an end of the year celebration, we’ve put together a slideshow off special moments with our amazing students

that will be emailed to you on June 5th.

La última vez hablamos de diferentes animales que corren rápido, como los guepardos, las

avestruces, los leones y las gacelas. Hoy, vamos a aprender por qué son tan rápidos estos

animales.

Usando las imágenes etiquetados “Cuerpos de guepardo y avestruz” vamos a estudiar cómo la

forma de un guepardo y avestruz lo ayudan a correr rápido. ¿Cómo son sus cuerpos iguales y

¿Qué tan rápido crees que corren un guepardo? ¿Corre más rápido que un tren? ¿Más rápido que

una persona? ¡Sabías que un guepardo puede correr hasta 58 mph! Eso es el doble de rápido de

una persona y más rápido que un tren de pasajeros. Pero, ¿por qué son tan rápidos los

guepardos?

Al igual que los leones, los guepardos son depredadores. Un depredador es un animal que caza,

atrapa y come otros animales. Para ser un buen depredador, un guepardo y un león necesitan

correr lo suficientemente rápido para atrapar a sus presas. Una presa es un animal que es cazado

o asesinado por otro animal. Por ejemplo, una gacela o un jirafa son presas de un león o guepardo

que son los depredadores.

Vamos a usar la “Lista de depredadores” para aprender cómo los cuerpos de un león y guepardo

les ayudan a correr tan rápido y ser tan buenos depredadores. Trata de encontrar cada parte del

Translation:

How fast do you think a cheetah can run? Does it run faster than a train? Faster than a person? Fun

fact: a cheetah can run up to 58mph! That's twice as fast as a person and faster than a passenger

train. But why are cheetahs so fast?

Like lions, cheetahs are predators. A predator is an animal that hunts, catches, and eats other

animals. In order to be a successful predator a cheetah and a lion need to run fast enough to catch

their prey. A prey is an animal that is hunted or killed by another animal. For example a gazelle or a

giraffe are prey to a lion or a cheetah that are predators.

Let's use the "Lista de depredadores" to learn how the bodies of a lion and a cheetah help them

run so fast and be such good predators. Try to find each part on the “Lista de depredadores” on

the bodies of a cheetah and lion found ("Imágenes del cuerpo de un guepardo y león").

Easy Homemade PlayDough1 cup flour (not self-rising)

1/2 cup salt

1 cup water

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1-1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar

Food coloring (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan over low heat. Dough is ready when it rolls into a ball. Keep dough fresh in an airtight container.
