GOD IS THE TEST-MAKER

Exodus 20:20 Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."

A. GOD'S TESTS ARE ALWAYS GOOD AND BLESSINGS

Deuteronomy 8:16He gave you manna to eat in the

desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you.

1. GOD'S TESTS PRODUCE MATURITY

James 1:2-4 GWMy brothers and sisters, be very happy

when you are tested in different ways.

You know that such testing of your faith produces endurance.

Endure until your testing is over. Then you will be mature and complete, and you won't need anything.

B. GOD'S TESTS ARE IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOUR HEART

Deuteronomy 8:2 Remember how the LORD your

God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

DEUTERONOMY 13:3 you must not listen to the words

of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul.

BLESSINGS FOR LOVING GOD

JOHN 14:21Whoever has my commands and

obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.“

1 CORINTHIANS 2:9However, as it is written: "No eye has

seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him"

JAMES 1:12Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial,

because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

(bbe) There is a blessing on the man who undergoes testing; because, if he has God's approval, he will be given the crown of life, which the Lord has said he will give to those who have love for him.

(NLT) God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

2. OBEDIENCE ( TO SEE IF YOU WALK IN AND KEEP THE

WAY OF THE LORD )JUDGES 2:21-22I will no longer drive out before them any

of the nations Joshua left when he died.I will use them to test Israel and see

whether they will keep the way of the LORD and walk in it as their forefathers did.“

BLESSINGS FOR OBEYING GOD

DEUTERONOMY 28:1-3

If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.

All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God:

You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.

DEUTERONOMY 28:4-6

The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock--the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.

You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.

DEUTERONOMY 28:7-9

The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

The LORD will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the LORD your God and walk in his ways.

DEUTERONOMY 28:10-12

Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they will fear you.

The LORD will grant you abundant prosperity--in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground--in the land he swore to your forefathers to give you.

The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.

DEUTERONOMY 28:13-14

The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.
