Literacy Activity

Learning Intention (What we are learning today) Success Criteria (How can I show that I

have learned and understood)

• To read a text and show understanding

• To create a comic strip

• To read a text aloud confidently

• To show understanding of the

immune system and its function

• To create a comic strip using

pictures, captions, speech bubbles

or thought bubbles

Explanation of activity Suggested Resources

• Go to this website and read the comic strip

about the immune system:

chemistry-1

• Discuss with someone at home how the immune

system fights infections and helps to make you

feel better if you are sick.

• Create your own comic strip showing what

happens when someone gets sick and how the

immune system helps to fight infections. You

may wish to use this video about the immune

system to help if you’ve forgotten your learning

from Monday:

T.ac=k-ra

• The help below shows the features of a comic

strip to help you.

• Comic strip on the website

• Paper, coloured pencils or

technology to create comic strip

• You may use technology or be creative in your

approach to this task.

• Please share on Microsoft Teams.

Numeracy Activity

Learning Intention (What we are learning today) Success Criteria (How can I show that I

have learned and understood)

• To calculate change. • I can work out how much change is

needed.

• I can use the written strategies I

have learned to solve the problem.

Explanation of activity Suggested Resources

• Play word problem warm up game.

• Have a go at the mild, spicy or hot challenges

below. Work out how much change you will get

from buying different items.

• You might want to use an empty number line or

chimney sums to help you to add the totals. You

can also do a chimney sum to help you work out

how much change you will get. Here is some help

on doing a money chimney sum:

Other Curricular Activity

Learning Intention (What we are learning

today)

Success Criteria (How can I show that I have learned

and understood)

• To be able to carry out a science

experiment.

• I can follow instructions.

• I can carry out a science experiment.

• I can create art through science.

• I can make observations.

• I can provide feedback.

Explanation of activity Suggested Resources

• A science experiment about

different particles in liquids.

• The science experiment slides.

• Equipment needed: a bowl, ½ cup of milk,

washing-up liquid soap, cotton bud, food

colouring (more than one colour).

Other Suggested Activities for Today: Explore patterns in nature

This is such a simple way to inspire awareness and awe about the astoundingly beautiful and

amazing patterns in nature! Choose a leaf, flower, pinecone, stick or stone and bring it home to

examine. If you can’t get outside, look online or find a picture. Take time to observe and talk about

the patterns you see. Why might these patterns exist? Then draw/recreate the patterns.
