Principal Message
When the month of May arrives, along with it we see a flurry of activity.
Spring sports such as rugby, softball, track and field, and badminton
are all going to be happening at a very quick pace. The last days are as
important as the first. What happens in the waning days of the semester
can have an enormous impact upon a student’s educational experience.
As teachers and parents it is important to emphasis the finish line to
our students and children. With exams starting on June 10h our time
will pass quickly and we will be wondering where the school year went!
Believe it or not, it is that time of year again! Final tickets for the prom
will be sold May 6 and May 10. Tickets are $20 on May 6 and $40 on
May 10 each and only graduating students who have paid any outstand-
ing student/lost book fees, and their dates who meet the criteria for
sign ins, are permitted to attend. The Grad Prom takes place at Ship-
yard Market on Saturday, May 25h from 8-10 pm. Only students are per-
mitted inside the Shipyard Market. Doors open at 7:30 pm. The event
that is approved by the school and chaperoned by TOSH staff and the
Summerside Police is the Prom Dance ONLY! The "prom party" that
often happens later on prom night is NOT a school event.

TOBACCO USE BY STUDENTS
Background
The Athletic Department at TOSH recognizes that there is ample research demonstrating the health hazards from the use of tobacco products. We wish to promote a healthy athletic environment and portray a positive role model for youth.
Definition
For the purposes of this Policy, tobacco is defined to include chewing to-
bacco, “vapes” e-cigarettes and cigarettes or any other use of tobacco
products.
Policy
The use of tobacco is prohibited in all TOSH sports. Therefore, the pos-session or use of any tobacco products by a student is prohibited and shall result in a choice between entering a tobacco/ cessation prevention edu-cation program or removal from the team.
TOSH ATHLETICS TOBACCO FREE SPORTS
All property, buildings and vehicles owned by the Public
School’s Branch and /or the PEI Department of Transportation
(bus) are designated as ‘smoke-free’ environments. As well,
students are to refrain from smoking in privately owned vehi-
cles when those vehicles are on the Public School Branch
property. This includes the use of chewing tobacco, “vapes”, e
-cigarettes or any other use of tobacco products. A designated
smoking area enclosed by a chain fence is located on the north
end of the general parking lot. Students are not to have any
tobacco products or lighters visible until present in the loca-
tion of the designated smoking area. Students in violation of
these rules are subject to immediate confiscation of the

TOSH ARTS COUNCIL
Presents
Shrek, The Musical
A musical by
David Lindsay-Abairie and Jeanine Tesori
(TOSH Blackbox Theatre: April 26th, 27th and May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th)
An unlikely hero, Shrek finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside the wisecrack-
ing Donkey and a feisty princess Fiona, who resists her rescue. Featuring fantastic songs
from Jeanine Tesori and a sidesplitting script by David Lindsay-Abaire, Shrek The Musi-
cal brings the beloved characters you know from the film to life on their way to discovering
the big bright beautiful world at the end of this fabulously fresh storybook journey. Shrek
The Musical is irreverent fun for the whole family and proves that beauty is truly in the eye
of the ogre. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a doz-
en other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Lucki-
ly, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.
This is TOSH Arts Council’s second full stage production since the inception of the newly
constructed Black Box theatre. Last spring, the council presented the inaugural production
of the Black Box, The Theory of Relativity which was highly appraised by an appreciative
audience.
All tickets are $15 and will be available beginning April 1st at one location only- Three Oaks
Main Office.

Sean is a teacher at Three Oaks Senior High.
He was a diabetic for many years, high blood sugars caused damage to his kidneys and eyes, and made him very weak.
He was told that he needed a kidney transplant and within 3-4 years he would be blind.
In October 2009 he received a kidney and pancreas transplant, and a new lease on life!
He is now able to coach basketball, he is a provincial soccer referee, and his eyesight has improved so much that he is a skeet shooter!
He is very grateful that someone made the choice to be a donor.

ANNOUNCING THE 3RD TOSH YOUTH RELAY FOR LIFE
A Relay for Life is a six hour event held to raise money for cancer research. Relay for Life events have the oppor-
tunity to affect everyone involved in a positive way. Three Oaks Senior High will be hosting its 3rd Youth Relay for
Life May 31st, 2019 from 12pm-6pm. This year we hope to achieve our goal of raising $11,000 dollars for cancer
research. We are currently very busy with different committees working hard to prepare for event day. In
addition to TOSH staff, students, and friends having the opportunity to participate, we also encourage any-
one from the community wishing to get involved to do so. Please take a moment to read through the sec-
tions below which provide information on how you can support our Relay in various ways. General inquir-
ies can be made to [email protected].
HOW TO DONATE
Our goal is to raise $11 000 and we need your help! There are several ways to donate and donations of
$20.00 or more are eligible for official receipts. If you wish to donate you can:
· Drop in to the TOSH Main Office, open Monday-Friday from 8:30am - 4:00pm;
· Drop in to the event (Bus Parking Lot) to show your support on May 31st;

LUMINARIES
During Relay for Life, one of the most memorable moments of the event is the Luminary Ceremony. It is
during this time we honor and remember those who have been affected by, or lost their battle to cancer. The
track is lined with luminaries that are dedicated to those who have been touched by cancer. If you are inter-
ested in purchasing a luminary in honor or memory of a loved one, for $5.00, you can contact bec-
SURVIVORS
Relay for Life events are truly powerful and moving. Our event will commence with a Survivor Lap from
noon until 12:30pm (directly following a Survivor Reception). Survivors wishing to take part can email
Jane Doyle at [email protected]. Please note that students will also be calling registered survivors
to invite them to take part on May 31st at TOSH and to give details regarding the Summerside Relay being
held June 8th from 6pm - midnight. Survivors can also contact Julia Mills at 902-315-2248 (part of the
Summerside Relay).
