What a beautiful weekend to spend camping! April found the group heading to Sunny Acres RV Park in Las Cruces. Friday evening’s “soup-n-sandwich” extravaganza was as tasty as always. We all even got into making “toasts” to each other to start off the weekend. Kiyoko had us all in great spirits with her laughter and smiles.

Saturday morning, we opted to eat breakfast at Cracker Barrel instead of cooking in the park. Following breakfast, some of us decided to take a trip down to an old bookstore, and on the way, found ourselves sidetracked by a farmer’s market where we spent quite a bit of time. Others chose to stay at “home” and relax. The weather was beautiful, with just a touch of a breeze, and sitting outside was rejuvenating.

Lunch found us meeting up in Hatch at Sparky’s, home of “World Famous Burgers – BBQ – Shakes; not to mention, the best green chile cheeseburger in the Southwest. The burger did stand up to all the hype. The music, sausage bites and milkshakes were fantastic as well.

We actually got pretty lucky, since we heard that sometimes, one can spend an hour to an hour and a half waiting to get in the door during lunchtime with live music.

Congratulations to Jarrod and his basketball team! The 2017 Special Olympics Basketball Team Competition was awesome. There were a total of 17 teams. Jarrod's team won the Silver Medal. Our regards to Mr. T.

What would a Bordertown Sam’s outing be without a perfect Saturday dinner? There was something for everyone, from beef stroganoff, to rice dishes, to bacon-wrapped barbecued chicken, to pasta salad to cakes and fruit. No one left hungry that night. Sunday morning, we had our traditional coffee with doughnuts and breakfast cakes. Only this time, we enjoyed breakfast on the patio.
