End of year activities for eighth grade students Eighth grade students with outstanding performance in academics, athletics, or student activities will be invited by the NEMS faculty to be recognized during an awards program on Tuesday, June 2 at 7:00 pm in our gymnasium. Families of the students being recognized will receive invitations later this month. Our PTO will be providing a picnic lunch with fun activities for the entire eighth grade class on Wednesday, June 3, the last day of school. This will allow our 8th graders to spend some quality time together at NEMS one last time. Parent volunteers are needed for this event. Please email the PTO at [email protected] if you are willing to help out.

iPad collection June 1 and 2 All school issued iPads will be collected before summer break. Please see the attachment for some important information and instructions regarding iPad collection on June 1 and 2. iPad deployment for 7th and 8th grade students will occur in late July. More detailed information will be coming soon!

Re-enrollment for current students All families of children currently enrolled in Noblesville Schools grades K-11 are asked each year to update and verify the information on record with the school district. We ask that you take a few minutes to complete an online form to be sure that we have accurate contact information on file. This form will allow you to update emergency contacts, provide medical history changes if appropriate, authorize the administration of stocked medications by the school nurse, and to agree to your child’s use of technology equipment. Name, address, or guardianship changes will need to be submitted directly to the school office with appropriate documentation. See the attached instruction sheet on how to access the infosnap registration system through the PowerSchool parent portal If your child will not be attending Noblesville Schools next school year, please contact our registrar, Carla Miller, to complete and sign a Withdrawal/Transfer form. This form must be completed in order for student records to be forwarded to the new school.

Final Report Cards Final report cards will be emailed to parents the week of June 8. Paper copies of report cards will be mailed to families who do not have an email address on file at the school. You may also access your child’s grades by logging into the PowerSchool parent portal with the account you created.

Extra yearbooks Extra yearbooks will be on sale in our office later this month. The cost will be $40, and only cash can be accepted. Students will be notified via our afternoon announcements when the yearbooks arrive. Yearbooks will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

PTO meeting May 27 The final PTO meeting of the school year will be held on May 27 at 7:00 pm in the NEMS LGI Room. Officers for the 2015-16 school year will be elected at the meeting. All parents are invited to attend!

Medication pick-up Please plan to pick up any medication your child has in the nurse’s clinic on the last day of school. Medication must be picked up by a parent or guardian. We cannot send medication home with students or keep medication over the summer. Any medication not picked up by the end of the day on Wednesday, June 3 will be destroyed.

2015-16 Bridges eligibility If your child participates in the Language Arts or Math Bridges program this year, they will automatically be enrolled in the corresponding Bridges program next year unless your child’s teacher has notified you otherwise. Please note that NEMS also reviews performance data each year to identify any other candidates for our Bridges program. Parents of these students will be contacted with an invitation and information by early June.

With the school year ending soon, it is a good time to start thinking about summer activities. Summer is a great time for students to explore interests they may have by attending camps, workshops, and a variety of other activities. Doing activities such as this is a great way to meet new people who share your interests, make new friends, and learn about people who may be different then the people you already know. Participating in activities in the summer will help keep students learning new things that they might not have time for during the school year. Parents are less likely to hear that students are bored or see students overly occupied with electronic media. Exploring their interests may help them learn about a possible career they would like to pursue that they hadn’t thought about before. Experiences such as this also will look good on college and job applications. It shows that the student is a well-rounded person with many interests. Also, students who are involved and engaged in activities are less likely to be involved in harmful activities and tend to make better choices.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

We are excited to announce online demographic updates for enrollment for 2015-16 is now open. This online process replaces nearly all paper forms that needed to be completed in the past. You will be using the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access the InfoSnap registration system to fill out the form and verify that your child’s information is current. This form will allow you to update emergency contacts, provide medical history changes if appropriate, authorize the administration of stocked medications by the school nurse, and to agree to your child’s use of technology equipment.

How do I get started?

Visit https://powerschool.nobl.k12.us/public and sign in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal. From the Parent Portal:

1. Select the student you wish to register along the top 2. Click the InfoSnap Student Enrollment link in the left menu 3. Agree to the terms and conditions 4. Click Begin Forms

I can’t remember my login for the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

If you can’t remember your login, use the “Need username and/or password help?” link on the Sign In page. You will need to use the email address that the account was created with in order to receive your login credentials. If you need further assistance recovering your login, please contact your child’s school directly.

I’m trying to add a student to the Parent Portal, but I don’t have an Access ID. Please contact your child’s school directly to obtain the Access ID and Password to add a student to your parent account. Do I have to answer all the questions?

Questions marked with a red asterisk (*) are required. All other questions are optional. What if I make a mistake?

If you would like to make a change, prior to submitting the form, you can either navigate back to the page using the “< Prev” and “Next >” buttons. Or if you are on the Review page, click on the underlined field. If you have already submitted the form, then you will need to contact your student’s school, so they can make the changes for you.

I’ve completed the form, now what?

Once you have finished entering your information, click “Submit.” This will send all of the information you’ve entered to the school. If you cannot click on this button, you will need to make sure that you have answered all required questions.

What if I have more than one student in the district? Do I need to do this for each child?

Yes. You will need to provide information that is specific for each child. We recommend that you complete and submit one form and then return to the parent portal to start the next child’s form – doing this will allow you to “snap” (or share) selected family information, which saves you time.

I’m not sure how to answer a question. I don’t know what the question is asking.

You can contact your school office to ask any general questions about the form.

Help! I’m on the InfoSnap form and I’m having technical difficulties.

Use the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of the InfoSnap page to find appropriate contact information for your technical issue.

Noblesville Schools Sports Physicals

All candidates for Noblesville Schools athletic teams (grades 6–12) during the 2015–2016 school year must complete a physical examination performed by a licensed medical doctor. The examination must take place—and the doctor’s signature must be dated—after April 1, 2015.

Sports physical forms are available in the Noblesville East Middle School, Noblesville West Middle School and Noblesville High School athletic departments and on the Noblesville High School Athletics website (www.noblesvilleschools.org/athletics). In order for a student-athlete to be eligible for any sport, a completed sports physical form must be returned to the appropriate athletic office prior to the first practice.

Sports physical examinations may be completed by a pediatrician or family physician of your choice. In addition, through a partnership with Riverview Health, we’re able to provide physical examinations for prospective Noblesville Schools student athletes at a cost of $25. Please note these will be the only student-athlete physical examinations offered through Noblesville Schools for the 2015-2016 school year.

In addition, Riverview Health is offering an optional cardiac screening for student-athletes. This screening evaluates the potential risk of sudden death from cardiac-related abnormalities. The test consists of an electrocardiogram and an echocardiogram and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. This screening is offered at a cost of $30. This screening is available at Riverview Health Heart & Vascular. Please call Riverview Health Central Scheduling at 317.776.7247 to make an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Must I have the physical completed at the school in order to participate in athletics? No. Any licensed medical doctor of your choosing may conduct the physical exam. The examination must take place—and the doctor’s signature must be dated—after April 1, 2015. Please note, if a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant signs the physical form, it will not be accepted by IHSAA standards.

How long is the physical valid? Physicals conducted after April 1, 2015, are valid for athletic participation through the entire 2015-2016 school year.

Can a parent accompany the athlete through the exam? Yes.

Can I use the physical form provided by my doctor’s office? Only the valid, current 2015-2016 sports physical form can be accepted for athletic participation. Often times, the forms available through a doctor’s office are out-of-date and cannot be accepted. We recommend getting the appropriate forms from the athletic office of the school your child will attend or on the high school athletic website.

Do I have to do the cardiac screening to participate in athletics? No, this screening is optional.

Additional questions should be directed to the appropriate athletic office at the school where your child will be participating in athletics during the 2015-2016 school year.
