Who: Ideally, the president of a student association, but could be anyone who wants to be involved in the department.

What: Learn publishing software; gather and publish stu-dent news

How: Take a CFS 699 for 1 unit with Dr. Rabolt next semester. If you are interested, see her ASAP.

ADM students, along their sponsors, Goodwill and the Fashion Network Association (FNA), produced the 18th annual fashion event, Runway 2012: Defined, on Thursday, May 3 at the San Francisco Design Center Galleria. The event attracted over 600 attendees and featured over 200 looks on the runway. This year the ADM students collaborated with Dr. Hamid Khani, Dr. Kathy O’Donnell and the Broadcasting & Electronic Communication Arts, Design & Industry, and Marketing students in a partnership with Goodwill Industries. The audience voted for Regan Heath’s, Twig, as the most marketable line and Jonathan Cheung’s & Angela Wolverton’s collection, Love Force, as the most creative. ADM 569 Visual Merchandising and Promotion, taught by Dr. Connie Ulasewicz, worked with Goodwill Industries this semester in creating window displays for two of its San Francisco locations, West Portal and Mission Street. Many ADM students volunteered at this year’s St. Vincent DePaul’s Discarded to Divine event, in which designers transform discarded and otherwise unusable items into wearable works of art and home décor. Congratulations to Monavie Tutop for her design chosen for the promotional poster, live auction, and people’s choice award.

Design Week 2012 was held April 30 – May 4 at the S.F. Design Center Galleria. The exhibit displayed student works from the Advanced Interior Design Solutions class. This year’s program, “Out of the Box,” consisted of an exhibit of contemporary furniture forms created as prototypes – all in combinations of black and white. Each piece was created from corrugated cardboard and was individually handcrafted by the designers. Additional works included Media Room designs, AutoCAD drawings, hand renderings, and architectural models. The show was executed under the guidance of Dr. Gus Vouchilas and included the design and construction of the display units, floral arrangements, as well as the design of announcements and invitations. Students and their families, professional designers, and faculty attended the reception replete with hors d’oeuvres and music. Special thanks to the S.F. Design Center for its continuing sponsorship of the ID program in this successful annual event. Thanks also to vendors and donors for their generous donations.
