A man is trying to cross the street. As he steps off the curb, a car comes screaming around the corner and heads straight for him. The man walks faster, trying to hurry across the street, but the car changes lanes and is still coming at him. The man turns around to go back, but the car changes lanes again and is still coming at him. By now, the car is so close, and the man so scared, that he just freezes in the middle of the road. The car gets closer, then swerves at the last moment and screeches to a halt beside him. The man sees a squirrel behind the wheel After rolling down his car window, the squirrel looks at the man and says, See, its not as easy as it looks, is it? A Woman is having a bad day at the roulette tables in Vegas. Down to her last $100, she cries, What horrible luck! What in the world should I do now? A gentleman next to her, trying to calm her down a bit, suggests she play her age. He walks away. Later, he hears a commotion at the roulette table. Had the woman won? Pushing his way through the crowd, hes stunned to see the lady lying on the floor, with the table operator kneeling over her. He asks, What happened? Is she all right? I dont know. the operator said. She put all her money on 29. When 36 came up, she fainted!

MEETING TIME ?

What time should the meeting start?

This topic was discussed at the General Meeting and the membership voted and decided to leave the time as it is now, beginning at 6 PM.

THANK YOU!! Bill Craigmill, is a member of the Lone Star Chap-ter, that lives in Canada, and spends his winters in the Philippines. (His wife is from the Philippines, and the cold Canadian winters are to hard on his arthritis ) His last trip there, he discovered that the monument to veter-ans in the Province of Guimaras, the Municipality of Buena Vista is neglected. This is a monument to the fallen heros of WWII and Korea. He has made it his mission to change that. He normally returns to the Philippines in the fall, when the weather in Canada begins to turn cold This year he is returning in July, because of the mass amount of work to be done. He is helping the Mayor to organize

the people to clean up the monument area and restore it to the original condition. The Mayor, with Bills help is planning a ceremony at the site on November 11th, but they need help. One of our members, Travis Riley,

has obtained a thousand poppies for Bill to distribute there, along with an American flag. A recording of the National Anthem and Taps, is also needed plus he would like a banner with the TLSC/KWV on it, to put on a wreath. He also needs funds to help pay for all the work that needs to be done. Bill hopes that this year, with the help of numerous people and the Lone Star Chapter, the Veterans Day Celebration on November 11th, will be one that the people in the region will fi-nally remember those that helped to free their country.

VIETNAM MEMORIAL WALL WEBSITE

This is a very interesting website. You can click on a person a read about them. Very touching. Someone spent a lot of time on this and it is truly remark-able. This website is a virtual wall of all those lost dur-ing the Viet Nam war, with the names, bios and other information on our lost comrades. It is a very interesting link, and those who served in that time frame and/or lost friends or family, can look them up on this site. First click on a state...then when it opens a city..and names...then it should show you a picture of the person or at least his bio and medals. Http://www.virtualwall.org/iStates.htm

KEEPING IN TOUCH SICK BAY

Charles Laird was rushed to the hospital Sunday April 11th. At first it was thought it was his heart, but the doctors determined that he had pneumonia in his left lung. He was released Wednesday, the 14th, and once he got settled in, he and Grace fell asleep around 7 pm and didnt wake up until close to noon the next day. Were very glad that you are home and do not get sick like that again. Patty & Sal Gambino are improving. Sal has finished his treatments but Patty still has 3 to 4 months of therapy. The surgeon has said that the recovery for her injury at least 6 months, but her ankle will never be the same. Don and Nelda Napp recently went on a 7 day cruise out of Galveston to the Bahamas and Key West. While enjoying the trip, lounging on deck, they noticed a familiar face a few chairs awayit turned out to be Sandra and Rod Ramsey. A great trip turned out to be a fabulous trip and a good time was had by all. Nelda reported that the water was as calm as glass on the trip out, making it a very pleasant trip. It must have been sunny and mild that week, because they all came home looking rested and tan. Mickey Spencer is still at Tranquility House and really enjoys visitors. If you have time, please stop by and visit with him. Tranquility is located at 9006 Poco Road, Houston, Tx., 77080. Charlotte Henderson still has the infection in her ankle. After being sent to several different doctors, plus x-ray, blood tests, etc. The last doctor I was sent to was one at the Wound Care center. I think this is the last doctor I will be seen by. The treatment will last several months, as they are taking a very aggressive treat-ment procedure with the wound. I will be going every week until it is healed. Hopefully this works, because Im tired of the pain. After just one treatment, the pain is almost gone.

We had a special guest at our April meeting, Anita Long, daughter of Huey P. Long. Anita is operating the museum in honor of her father and you can access the museum at: inkspotsmu-seum.com She has also undertaken the project of video taping memories. This is very much like we have been doing at our meetings when a veteran is video taped telling his story about his part in the Korean war and the tapes are sent to the Korean War Museum. Anita can help you tell your story, either about the war, your family, career, or anything that you would like preserved. If you would like her ser-vices, contact her at the museum or via the web-site.2
