Dear Epiphany Parishioners,
We have resumed our regular weekday 9:00 am Mass schedule and the
church will remain open until 6:00 pm (Monday through Friday) for pri-
vate prayer. Daily Mass will be in the main church and is still limited to
400 people in attendance. As you enter and leave the church, we will
have hand sanitizers at all entrances and exits for your use. We also
have Clorox Wipes to use to wipe down the area you are sitting at be-
fore you leave the church. The bathrooms and door handles will be san-
itized after every Mass. Again, all of these efforts are intended to also
help one another be at peace as we congregate to celebrate the Eucha-
rist.
We will resume Eucharistic Adoration in the coming weeks as we slowly
ease into and adjust to this new schedule and these conditions.
We will have Confessions on Saturdays again, at the regular time of
4:00 pm and by appointment in the coming weeks. You are asked to
wear your mask in the church and during Confession and keep the
physical distancing space of 6 feet as you wait in line for Confession.
Thank you for your support of the Church and of one another as we, as
a community, hold one another up in prayer during this most challeng-
ing time for our country and the world.
Faithfully yours in Christ,
Fr. Tom Lam

Reflecting on God’s Word
I t is difficult to remain calm when we see ourselves surrounded by difficul es and problems. Think of your own reac ons in the face of the struggles of life. And that anxiety tends to be in-tensified when we feel in any way judged by the prejudices of others or by an open cri cism of our culture or faith. What is the best response in difficult situa ons? Peter says that the best
response is to give such witness of an upright life that those who judge would have to be silent. That is, a witness of integrity, love, truth, and dignity. Since such a life is difficult to live on our own strength, it will give witness of where our support lies; it will tell the world that we have an Advocate in the Spirit. A life of peace and serenity in the face of adversity, of hope in the face of difficulty, and of joy in their midst of pain is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Spirit is given to all the bap zed but we need to accept it and ask for it, to be open to its coming. How can we cul vate such a tudes? Certainly not by our own means, but by the grace of God. But there are ways in which we can become more recep ve to this grace: family prayer which gives us the mutual support of faith and unites us with strength to deal with our lives; sharing in the church commu-nity bringing in our talents and treasure, and living the life of faith within a support group that encourages and impels us to con nue walking toward God; service to others, which brings us out of our-selves.
With all this, whoever looks at us will be able to say, as they said about the first Chris ans: “see how they love each other.” That is the best witness of the One we trust, Jesus himself.
United by our faith in Christ

“For it is be er to suffer for doing good, if that be God’s will, than for doing evil.” 1 PETER 3:17
The old line says “if you want to make God laugh,
tell him your plans.” Many of us are diligent in our
planning and making sure things are progressing
smoothly. Then disaster strikes, we don’t get the
result that was intended or an unforeseen problem
arises. Many mes we may respond nega vely and
ask, “Why me? I did everything right!” Here’s the
thing – adversity humbles us and reminds us of our
dependence on God and not on our own self-
reliance. Rest assured, God has a be er plan in
store for you.

LIGHT OF BELIEF
Every believer in this world must become a spark of light. —Pope Saint John XXIII
Just as the origins of Lent have to do with accompa-
nying people in the final stages of prepara on for
bap sm at Easter me, so does the structure of the
Easter season help the newly received Catholics
take root in the community. This is the season of
“mystagogy,” which means “reflec on on the mys-
teries.” This means that new Catholics are remem-
bering the sacraments by which they become one
with us, and are sor ng out the implica ons for
their everyday life. They can understand the excite-
ment of Cornelius and his family in the first reading,
filled with the Holy Spirit, and so eager to begin
their new life that they overwhelm St. Peter. The
second reading and the Gospel today likewise help
our new brothers and sisters explore their new life
as an experience of God’s tender love.
Long ago, our tradi on named these newly bap-
zed adults and children the “neophytes,” from
Greek words meaning “newly planted.” Newly
planted in the garden of faith, they look to us to
provide the fer le soil in which their new life can
take root and grow. You can help. If you have
“neophytes” in your parish, a card or note of wel-
come, or warm words of congratula on, are s ll
mely. It’s Easter! —James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

In the Gospel today, Jesus says to us: “If you love me, you will keep my
commandments...Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father and I will love him
and reveal myself to him. When we give to the poor, God indeed pours his love, peace and joy into our hearts, into our lives and through us into the hearts of
