THE ASCENSION OF OUR LORD INTO HEAVEN

Dear Friends; This weekend we celebrate the feast of the Ascension of our Lord into heaven. After the resurrection of Christ, he appeared to his disciples and lived in their presence for forty days until he was taken up into heaven. During his appearances, he strengthened the faith of his disciples and basically put the final touch in their lives in order to send them into the world to proclaim his Good News. Jesus, during that time, prepared his apostles for the coming of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit’s appearance would empower them to be ministers of the new baptism in contrast to John the Baptist’s baptism. The Spirit would show a true distinction between John’s and Jesus’ baptism. It is the baptism of Jesus, that we’ve received and which we celebrate. His baptism has forgiven us our sins but also has empowered us to be his disciples in the world. The feast of the Ascension of our Lord helps us to understand that the ministry of Jesus on earth has come to completion and from here on He will work through the hands and the preaching of his disciples and everyone who has come to believe in him. We must realize that the ministry of Jesus never ends because the work of God is never over, since his desire is that we truly experience salvation through his death and resurrection, by living good Christian lives. The ascension of our Lord makes us look up to heaven and see that where Jesus has gone, we hope to go some day. The baptism we received, is a baptism that incorporates us into the family of God, that is, the Church. It is in this Church, that we are to grow spiritually and in love with one another. The baptism we celebrated, weather as an infant or, as an adult, is a baptism of commitment to live our faith in Christ Jesus by listening to his word and keeping his commandments. In doing so, we love God above all things as well as our brothers and sisters. Our baptism is a call to live our lives as Christians; to give witness with our actions and our love for God the Gospel of Christ. The best way we can teach and preach the Gospel is by the way we live our lives. This is why our baptism is indeed a way of life and the Christian way, following Jesus and becoming more and more like him. Today, the Church continues the mission of Christ in the world and utilizes each one of us to make Christ present in the world. We are all the hands, the feet and the voice of Jesus to proclaim his message of hope and love. Today, we need to make Christ present in our world more than ever since there is much darkness, sin and lack of charity among ourselves. We need to look up to Jesus and realize he is entrusting his message to us to be proclaimed by our lives.Blessings,Fr. Hernan

Tony’s MemoirsI see there are many people who are still not going to Church for fear of being infected with the virus; But I think, you should not be afraid

to return to Church because in your parish they follow all the

protocols in order to keep the people safe. Don’t get used to the live stream Mass because the most important thing in the celebration of the Mass is that you are able to receive Holy Communion and that you gather with your brothers and sisters. If you are home watching the Mass you can’t have the Communion. From far away I encourage you to start thinking about going back,

although I see many people already attending Mass in your parish and for that I am very happy, as is your pastor. Just make sure you wear your mask and you use the sanitizer, these are two good ways to protect yourselves from getting infected. On another note, I see people are still not being careful when they kneel in church even though, the master has mentioned it many times at Mass. Next time you are in church, listen to how terrible it sounds in the middle of the celebration. There is no need to slam the kneelers but instead, bring them down nicely and quietly for the sake of everyone in church and as a sign of respect to God. I know you say that the master likes to nag and reprimand at Mass but, he is right since people seem to not want to listen. Do your best, that’s all he is asking. Ciao! Woof, woof!

CARMELITE MONASTERY

We are still in need of your donations to help the

sisters at the Monastery here in Morristown. The

Carmelite sisters are a gift to the world but, in a

MONTH OF MAY-ROSARY AT DAWNDuring the month of May we continue with

the tradition of our Rosary at Dawn that we have been doing for so many years. We usually do it walking over to the Green, but

due to the pandemic we are doing the rosary in the Church. It is a way of

honoring our Blessed Mother during this month dedicated to her but also, a great time to pray for all our needs. I hope you will join us during these Saturdays of May

in the praying of the Holy Rosary.

LA ASCENSIÓN DE NUESTRO SEÑOR AL CIELO

Q ueridos amigos;

Este fin de semana celebramos la fiesta de la Ascensión de nuestro Señor en el cielo. Después de la resurrección de Cristo, se apareció a sus discípulos y vivió en su presencia durante cuarenta días hasta que fue llevado al cielo. Durante sus apariciones, fortaleció la fe de sus discípulos y básicamente puso el toque final en sus vidas para enviarlos al mundo para proclamar su Buena Nueva. Jesús, durante ese tiempo, preparó a sus apóstoles para la venida del Espíritu Santo. La aparición del Espíritu los empoderaría para ser ministros del nuevo bautismo en contraste con el bautismo de Juan el Bautista. El Espíritu mostraría una verdadera distinción entre el bautismo de Juan y Jesús. Es el bautismo de Jesús, el que hemos recibido y el que celebramos. Su bautismo nos ha perdonado nuestros pecados, pero también nos ha empoderado para ser sus discípulos en el mundo. La fiesta de la Ascensión de nuestro Señor nos ayuda a entender que el ministerio de Jesús en la tierra ha llegado a su fin y a partir de ahora él trabajará a través de las manos y la predicación de sus discípulos y de todos los que han llegado a creer en él. Debemos darnos cuenta de que el ministerio de Jesús nunca termina porque la obra de Dios nunca ha terminado, ya que su deseo es que realmente experimentemos la salvación a través de su muerte y resurrección, viviendo una buena vida cristiana. La ascensión de nuestro Señor nos hace mirar al cielo y ver que a donde Jesús ha ido, esperamos ir algún día. El bautismo que recibimos es un bautismo que nos incorpora a la familia de Dios, es decir, a la Iglesia. Es en esta Iglesia donde debemos crecer espiritualmente y en amor unos con otros. El bautismo que celebramos, como un niño o, como adulto, es un bautismo de compromiso de vivir nuestra fe en Cristo Jesús escuchando su palabra y guardando sus mandamientos. Al hacerlo, amamos a Dios por encima de todas las cosas, así como a nuestros hermanos y hermanas. Nuestro bautismo es un llamado a vivir nuestra vida como cristianos; para dar testimonio con nuestras acciones y nuestro amor por Dios, el Evangelio de Cristo. La mejor manera de enseñar y predicar el Evangelio es por la forma en que vivimos nuestra vida. Esta es la razón por la que nuestro bautismo es una forma de vida y el camino cristiano, siguiendo a Jesús y volviéndose cada vez más como él. Hoy día, la Iglesia continua la misión de Cristo en el mundo y utiliza a cada uno de nosotros para hacer presente a Cristo en el mundo. Todos somos las manos, los pies y la voz de Jesús para anunciar su mensaje de esperanza y amor. Hoy, necesitamos hacer que Cristo esté presente en nuestro mundo más que nunca, ya que hay mucha oscuridad, pecado y falta de caridad entre nosotros. Tenemos que mirar a Jesús y darnos cuenta de que nos está confiando su mensaje para que sea proclamado con nuestras vidas.

Memorias de TonyVeo que hay mucha gente que aun no llegan a la iglesia por miedo de contagiarse del virus. Pero pienso, que usted no debiera tener miedo de regresar a la iglesia porque en su parroquia siguen muy bien los

protocolos de bio-seguridad. No se acostumbre a la Misa por las redes

porque lo mas importante en la celebración es que ustedes puedan recibir la Sagrada Comunión y estar con sus hermanos. Si usted esta en casa viendo la Misa transmitida en vivo, usted no puede recibir la Comunión. Desde muy lejos los animo a que piensen en regresar, aunque ya veo mucha

gente que esta asistiendo a la Santa Misa y eso me alegra mucho como también alegra a su pastor; solo asegúrese de llevar su mascara y de desinfectar sus manos bien ya que estas son dos maneras de protección y de no contaminarse. En otra nota, veo que aun hay personas que no son muy cuidadosas cuando bajan los reclinatorios, aunque, el pastor lo ha dicho muchas veces en la misa. La próxima ves que llegue a la iglesia, escuche con atención el ruido que hacen al no ser cuidadosos. No hay necesidad de tirar los reclinatorios, si no, bajarlos con cuidado y en silencio por el bien de todos y por respeto a Dios. Yo se que muchos dicen que el pastor hecha mucha cantaleta y regaña muchísimo, pero el tiene la razón ya que muchos no escuchan. Haga lo mejor que puedan, eso es todo lo que les pide. ¡Ciao! ¡Guao…guao!

hermanas; también es una oportunidad para orar por cada uno. Por esta razón, te

invito a que te unas a nosotros en la iglesia los jueves a las 6:00 P.M. o por medio de la

transmisión en vivo. Si tienes alguna necesidad y deseas que oremos por ti, o por

un enfermo de tu familia, déjenos saber para orar por ellos.

MES DE MAYOROSARIO DE LA AURORA

Durante el mes de mayo continuaremos con la tradición que empezamos hace muchos anos, el Rosario de la Aurora.

Usualmente lo hacemos caminando hacia el parque,

pero debido a la pandemia lo estamos haciendo en la Iglesia. Es una manera de

honrar a la Santísima Virgen María durante este mes de mayo dedicado a ella, pero también es

una oportunidad de orar por nuestras necesidades. Espero que pueda unirse a nosotros durante estos sábados de mayo

rezando el Santo Rosario.
