Made by hand from a farming family in Watertown makes Gitto’s tortillas some of our favorite tortillas- hand’s down! So, what’s the secret? “The flavor and texture,” says Greg Gitto, owner of Gitto Farm and Kitchen. “And a simple ingredient list, that you can pronounce every word and know where it comes from.” It all started with a KitchenAid mixer and a tortilla press as a way to branch out from raising grass-fed beef on their farm and make a few extra bucks at local farmer’s markets but soon people were clamoring for Gitto’s soft and fluffy tortillas that they had no choice but to give customers what they wanted and increased their production. Gitto believes that in an age of huge, corporate farms and highly processed foods, it is worth the time and effort that brings more basic, wholesome foods to discerning customers and also contributes to sustaining the land, the family farm, and a sense of community support for one another.
