You can’t start work if you don’t have work. My experience has taught me ef-fective and successful methods for pre-paringandadheringtoRFQ’sandRFP’sfrom public and private clients.

Making a project work relies on heaccuracy and detail in the construction documents, which I have improved on a daily basis. Landscape plans, inventories, irrigation, and detailing.

Mountains of trace and miles of marker lend way to the most striking and thought provoking designs... even if they are a little rough.

It’seasytogetlostinaproject, especiallyone who’s length is measured in years. Properprojectcoordinationhastaughtme to keep up with the team... and myself.

A quick wit is one thing, but a quick grasp of a plant materials and design is key to a coordinated and practical design. That, and you feel really smart when you use all those Latin names.

Graphics and rendered views sell projects. As thepresentationgraphicsspecialist, I have the last hands on everything shown to a client, and I make sure they work their magic.

centennial way

Working for the City of Phoenix and State of Arizona, Waibel & Associates has the opportunity to redesign and renew one of the most important corridors in Phoenix: that which connects downtown to the State Capital Complex. Working as part of a design build team on a one year time line has made for a fast track schedule for ground breaking in May 2011 for completion and dedication at the Arizona Centennial, February 14, 2012.

mesa/southernstreetscape

Working for the City of Mesa, Arizona as a client, Waibel & Associates had the task of creating a new gateway to the city from a stretch of Mesa Drive that has fallen into neglect. My responsibilities on the design team include construction document drawings and all renderings and graphics presentations.

ThefirstphaseoftheHallbergresidenceinnorthPhoenix was transforming a seemingly random plant layout into one with cohesion and linear form. The contrast between the soft grass barrier and sculptural structure of the agave give the designacontemporaryfeelwhiledefiningentryspace. The use of Lady Slipper (Pedilanthus macrocarpus)neartheentrycourtyardwillfillinto provide a playful and sculptural conclusion. studio361 completed all landscape demolition, new plantings, irrigation, and lighting.

Playing off the mid-century style of the home and needs of the client, a clean, family friendly, modern space from a completely empty parcel of land was created. Working as a graphic design intern for a small boutiquerealestatefirminScottsdale,Arizona,I had the opportunity to create print and web based media for high end residential properties and local design and networking events. Building and managing the company’s online portfolio and listings, as well as creating a guide book for a local architectural walking tour of Old Town Scottsdale made this internship unique in it’s ability to provide me with a creative license. The position also required coordination with the firm’s and other local agents to ensure properand attractive listings for clients.

special olympics

Special Olympics is an organization that provides sporting events for athletes of all ages with different forms of disability. Volunteering as a swim and track coach has given me the ability to take the athletic events I love and share them with others, in a setting that also enables me to make a difference in the lives of the athletes. Coaching involves not only practices, but events and competitions throughout the state, as well as the social benefits the team provides to allwhoparticipate.Responsibilitesincludepracticeand conditioning, event coordination, team leadership, and special consideration for athletes with unique needs.

fusion / stitch

Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona is a section of Phoenix deeply connected to its artist and fashion community. However currently, the literal divide of the Grand Canal splits the area into two worlds definedbyahighlysuccessfulmallandtheotherby independent businesses and artist galleries. Fusion/Stitchaimstojointhesetwoworldsviaa weaved network of high density architecture and clearly articulated landscape reflective of the biomes of the Sonoran Desert. The fusion of the two districts is achieved without compromising the unique character of each.

pioneer’s memorial

The Arizona Pioneer’s and Veteran’s Cemetery is a located in a struggling park in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, but was created to pay homage to the first people of the state. An extensionto the park aims to show the journey of theexplorer of early Arizona, from the undiscovered desert to today’s modern network of cities and communities.A journey fromdarkness to lighttakes the visitor through bands of experience, representing the process of the pioneer’s discovery and settlement. The site brings pride and recognition to these people, while site lines connect to the state capital and government complex, less than half a mile away.

journey of reflection

Thisprojectpresents theuserwith theuniqueopportunity to become completely alone amongst their thoughts. Traveling through the tight, dimly lit space, the pathway gradually opens up to emit more light and awaken more of the visitor’s senses. Finally, a staircase ascends the user to world above, where they are confronted with a bottomless pit, the place for total personal reflection.
