HAPACASTLE THEATER • 7:30 PM
“Hapa, the most successful Hawaiian-music group in recent history” –New York Times
According to the Santa Cruz Sentinel, if Maui were
music, it would sound like these guys. Barry
Flanagan and Nathan Aweau are Hapa, one
of Hawai‘i’s premiere music groups. Like the
Hawaiian Islands, Hapa’s pan-Polynesian music
is an amalgam of infl uences ranging from ancient
genealogical chants to the strummed ballads of
Portuguese fisherman and Spanish cowboys to
the inspirational melodies of early missionaries.
Add to this a dose of American acoustic folk/rock
and you have what has been described as the “most
exciting and beautiful contemporary Hawaiian
music the world knows!”–Maui Time Weekly. Hapa
has won numerous Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards in
addition to international acclaim.
