This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham.

What does Matthew means? The Gift of Yahweh

Matthew was a Jew a Government tax collector. So he knew Greek language. And he was very much of literate. After becoming disciple of Jesus, he might have left keeping records but recording historical evidences about Jesus, he used his old telents very surely. Therefore, in the first versehe wrote about the geneology of Jesus Chris as a record of geneology of Jesus, the historical proof!

This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Jew Priests called Jesus only as a son of David. Therefore, Matthew clarified there that Jesus was the coming Messiah, the foretold savior who is in the genealogy of Abraham and also in the genealogy of David. And he was going to take birth in the womb of a virgin.
