Sundays Sermon: Calling the MarginalMahew 8:1-17 ANNUAL BUSINESS MEET ING BY - LAW VOTE We are holding a vote of the membership to change the Constuon By-Laws concerning the Annual Congregaonal Meeng. The current Constuonal By-Laws under Arcle VII: Meengs; seconal 1. Annual Business Meeng, states, The annual business meeng of the church shall be held during the month of June each year. We, the Elders, are proposing this secon be changed to read, An annual business meeng of the church membership shall be held each year. The Elder Board will give membership four (4) weeks noce prior to each annual meeng. No longer than 12 months may pass between annual business meengs without proper noficaon from the Elder Board. Why are we doing this? The annual business meeng aligns with the annual budget vote of affirmaon, and we are wanng to change the annual budget meline. Whereas the current budget runs July 1 st -June 30 th , we want to change it to run September 1 st -August 31 st . Not only will this allow our accountant to work with our church budget outside of their busy tax and audit season, it primarily assists ministries in establishing their annual budget based upon their typical ministry meline. (Most ministry melines run September – August). Therefore, each year, in preparaon for the fiscal year to begin on September 1 st , we will bring the budget vote of affirmaon to the membership during the Annual Congregaonal Business Meeng the last weekend of August. Members will need to vote on this change to the Constuon By-laws BY EMAIL or MAIL, by July 12 th . We will be sending out an official vote ballot via email and mail in the next week. Sunday’s Sermon: “Calling the Marginal” — Matthew 8:1-17

ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING BY-LAW VOTE We are holding a vote of the membership to change the Constitution By-Laws concerning the Annual Congregational Meeting. The current Constitutional By-Laws under “Article VII: Meetings; sectional 1. Annual Business Meeting,” states, “The annual business meeting of the church shall be held during the month of June each year.”

We, the Elders, are proposing this section be changed to read,

“An annual business meeting of the church membership shall be held each year. The Elder Board will give membership four (4) weeks notice prior to each annual meeting. No longer than 12 months may pass between annual business meetings without proper notification from the Elder Board.”

Why are we doing this?

The annual business meeting aligns with the annual budget vote of affirmation, and we are wanting to change the annual budget timeline. Whereas the current budget runs July 1st-June 30th, we want to change it to run September 1st-August 31st. Not only will this allow our accountant to work with our church budget outside of their busy tax and audit season, it primarily assists ministries in establishing their annual budget based upon their typical ministry timeline. (Most ministry timelines run September – August).

Therefore, each year, in preparation for the fiscal year to begin on September 1st, we will bring the budget vote of affirmation to the membership during the Annual Congregational Business Meeting the last weekend of August.

Members will need to vote on this change to the Constitution By-laws BY EMAIL or MAIL, by July 12th.

We will be sending out an official vote ballot via email and mail in the next week.

BRING A SWEATER OR JACKET If you plan to attend a worship service at FBC this Sunday, you may want to bring a sweater or a jacket as the windows may be open.

FBC 2020 NEIGHBORHOOD VBS! Yes indeed, VBS is ON! This wild and crazy season has given us the opportunity to create VBS in a uniquely creative way! Rather than meet as a large group, friends and neighbors can gather together in each other’s homes (dependent on the governor’s stay at home guidelines) to experience VBS in a new way. So, instead of coming to F.B.C., we’ll come to your house via video and your kids will be so happy to see faces they know and to experience the energy, joy, creativity, fun, and love of VBS!

Watch a video of Rebecca – I mean, Bopsi – telling us all about it. You can also read all the details and register here. We’re so excited to, once again, praise Jesus through VBS!

If you’re interested in volunteering, please let Rebecca know at [email protected]. We have limited options this year, but there is a lot of prep work you can do at home for decorations and crafts, and some other options as well. Last but certainly not least, please pray!! Thank you!

VIRTUAL BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANG This year Pregnancy Care Clinic (PCC) is hosting a Virtual Baby Bottle Boomerang fundraiser! Normally during this event you would get to take home a baby bottle to fill with your spare change, cash, or check to support the life-saving work of PCC. With this year’s COVID health restrictions in place, PCC has created an opportunity to participate without even leaving your house! (Unless you want to!)

CLICK HERE to view a video announcement and CLICK HERE to view a flyer with all the information needed to make a donation of any amount to PCC. These donations will allow PCC to continue providing free services to our community including pregnancy testing, limited OB ultrasound, parenting classes, Bible studies, and material support such as diapers, wipes, formula, and more!

We hope you will join us in supporting this local ministry! Contact PCC with questions at 360.675.2096 or [email protected].
