• Salt implies association, not participation (John 17:15-16)
– Be separate: come out, touch not (2 Cor 6:14-18)
– “The world has been crucified to me” (Gal 6:14)
– “Seek the things where Christ is” (Col 3:1-3)
– “Proclaim the excellencies of Him” (1 Pet 2:9)
• Humanity is decaying (Gen 6:5; 2 Tim 3:13)
– Facing judgment & destruction (2 Pet 3:3-9)
– The wages of sin is death, and all have sinned (Rom 6:23; 3:23)
• Unique (John 17:16-17)
• Preserving (Gen 19)
• Adding flavor (Rev 3:16)
• Working quietly but effectively (1 Pet 2:11-12)
• Creating a thirst (John 4:13-14; Rev 22:17)
• Preserving:
– Teach (Acts 8:4, 1 Cor 1:21; 1 Tim 4:16; 1 Cor 9:22)
– Example (1 Tim 4:12, 16; Tit 2:7-8; 1 Pet 3:1)
– Conserving Truth: to keep constant through change, to keep in safety & protect from harm, decay, loss, or destruction (Prov 14:34; 11:4)

• Work quietly but effectively (1 Pet 2:11-12)
• Create thirst (John 4:13-14; Rev 22:17)
• Watch your influence by watching how you are being influenced (Mark 9:42-50; 1 Cor 15:33; Rom 12:2).
• Salt must come out of the container, but salt needs the container.
