Matteo C

apacci

Hi, my name is Matteo Capacci, I’m from

Cesena, a small city in Emilia Romagna near the

seaside, in the nord-east of Italy.

I graduated in February 2013 at ISIA: a design

and visual communication University in

Faenza (Ravenna) and currently I’m attending the

second year of the specialization course in the

same institute.

In this book I have put some of mine works that

can summarize my drawing style, from hand

sketches to digital graphics with some images

from animations that I created.

I know I still have a lot to learn, as much as in

techniques and also in english language skills,

but my volition is strong and I can ensure you

that I’ll put all my energy and my passion to

accomplish this dream and for become a part of

this world.

I realized that there will always be bigger fishes

around the business, but whats inside is unique

I often use the informal technique in my illustrations: I usually draw a very quick abstract form on paper, which helps me to identify shapes and any type of subject.

With a spatula I spread the acrylic colour on the paper very quickly. This allowed me to catch a glimpse through the shapes, that in this case they have become a dark castle. The illustration is made with a pen, acrylic and watercolours

25

I started drawing informal shapes, that subsequently have become a background for a landscape that I’ve used for one of my animation projects

26

27

The environment obtained will be the one where the animated characters are handled. There are some shapes looking like littlemonsters that scares the main characters in my animation project

33

From the pencil drawing of the previous backdrop, I made a digital version of it with the tablet obtaining a background layered suitable for a small animation.

37

Initially I drew a pencil sketch of the landscapethat I wanted to obtain, and afterwards I made the illustration with acrylic and watercoloursin a 33x48 cm picture for a children’s book. After all, to realize the animation I redesigned thelandscape into a digital illustration with the tablet

To realize the character I made several sketches to find the best shape, then I made some drafts of the expressions and movements that this character could take.In the next step I drew and colored digitally that it could

The way I work starts from making several hand drawings with pen, pencil or directly with colour techniques and I find the shape that I think is right then, if want to animate them, I make a digital design
