During the August bank holiday weekend Liverpool city centre

is the place to be, with more than 60 hours of live music performed across two days.

This event is a great symbol of what music means to this

city - we are proud of our musical heritage and we know how to throw a good party!Bands travel from all over the world to perform at this truly international event which is renowned for the welcoming crowds who thrive on fantastic, live music. This year marks a special anniversary, 50 years since Ringo joined with John, Paul and George to form The Beatles - the rest, as they say, is history. In a fitting tribute, we’ve renamed Monday, Merseybeat Monday, celebrating all things Beatles and Beatles-influenced.

Two of the five outdoor stages will be dedicated to the Fab Four, each act performing will play a selection of tracks from every Beatles album - what better place to experience this tribute than their home city! And don’t forget to buy a souvenir wristband for just £2 - a unique memento of the event.Whether you’re a resident or visitor, enjoy your time in Liverpool. Outside of the festival there’s plenty to do - from museums, galleries, world class shopping and visitor attractions steeped in history and culture. So explore, and above all, enjoy this special Mathew Street Music Festival.

Acceptable ID includes a current passport, nationally recognised ID passes or a driver’s license. Student ID’s are not accepted. Bar staff and shops will be checking the ID of young people who are purchasing alcohol and security will be checking the ID of young people drinking alcohol.

STRAwBERRY FiELDS AT MATHEw STREET MUSiC FESTiVAL

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Beatles forming its John, Paul, George and Ringo line-up, we will be delivering a new family friendly element to the festival - Strawberry Fields.

Strawberry Fields is named after the iconic Beatles song, which was written by John Lennon as an affectionate tribute to one of his favourite childhood haunts. Strawberry Field was a Salvation Army Children’s Home and John had fond memories of attending the annual garden parties held there.

SUNDAY 26 & MONDAY 27 AUGUST

Strawberry

Fields

At the Mathew Street Music Festival 2012, Culture Liverpool will evoke the spirit of Strawberry Fields via a traditional garden party, with innovative and interactive flourishes. Aimed at families and young people, it will offer a break from the busy festival and allow families to re-connect and refresh in an alcohol-free chill-out area.
