Students attend practice once a week to train for monthly

Olympiad contests which occur from November through March.

Each week students work individually and in teams to solve

problems. We also review important mathematical concepts that

will help them with the contest problems. The best part of the

solving. Step 1. Understand the problem * What is the question

really asking? * What does the solution look like? * Is there too

much or too little information? Step 2. Plan: Choose a strategy *

Choose a strategy that you think will work best * Some problems

may require more than one strategy Step 3. Execute: Put pencil to

paper and go! * Have a problem solver?s attitude as you attack

the problem Step 4. Look Back: * Does your answer seem right? *

How effective and ef谗cient was your strategy? * Would anotherstrategy work better? Then we teach kids several problem solving
