Math 6 ~ Summer Math Packet~

Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
The purpose of this packet is to provide a review of objectives that were taught the previous
school year and provide tasks related to the Common Core curriculum. Reviewing these materials
will help your child retain what he/she has learned this year and assist them as they enter the next
course in the sequence of study. We believe that the students who work on math concepts over
the summer will be better prepared for the next math course.
This year, we have provided two options for summer homework:
1) Mathematics skills practice packet
OR
2) Mathematics summer BINGO activities
*Students can choose to complete either assignment (or both if you really want to boost
math skills ). All work will be due on Friday, September 11, 2020.
Please note the following guidelines:
● Summer practice is required for all MLK students.
● In order to earn credit, students must show ALL steps in their calculations. If there is not
enough space, use loose leaf paper. Number the work with the page and problem number. Be
sure to staple it to the packet.
● This packet will count for a homework grade with a weight of 3. Students are required to
complete the entire packet OR 15 BINGO activities.
● A parent must sign below indicating that the child either did the problems themselves or
with parental support. This information will be helpful to the teachers in the fall.
It is recommended that parents help pace their children through the packets. We have broken the
packet up into skills per week. Please do not allow your child to race through the work. Lost
packets can be viewed and printed from our school website.
Thank you for your support in helping our students maintain their math skills and prepare for a
great academic year.
