Third Sunday Of Advent
Rejoice in our God,
the God of hope
and light.
The world literally grows darker each day this time of the year. But as dark as the world grows, the darkness will not overcome the light. Jesus is the Light of the world. He illumines our darkness with His love and truth. We are able to sit in the darkness with confidence that the Lord is with us.

The Third Sunday of Advent is called Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete is a Latin word that means rejoice. The Priests have the option of
wearing pink on this particular Sunday. The Third Sunday of Advent indicates the Season of Penance is coming to an end and soon we will
be rejoicing in our celebration of Christmas.
In Memoriam Fr. Francis X. Kelly
We recently learned of the death of Father Kelly. Years ago,
Father taught at Archbishop Ryan High School while also
serving as Weekend Assistant at Maternity B.V.M. He was truly
dedicated to serving both. Please keep Fr. Kelly and his family in your prayers.

CHARITABLE GIVING As we near the end of the year, it’s time to begin to think about tax planning. Don’t forget that
most people can take advantage of charitable gifts, such as gifts to Maternity B.V.M. Church, by deducting part of them from your yearly tax liability.
As you review your end-of-year finances, please remember your Parish in your charitable ppriorities. Many thanks!

PPolicies of Maternity B.V.M. Church The Cold and Flu Season is upon us!
If your are feeling under the weather, then do not feel compelled to shake hands at the Sign of Peace. A friendly smile and gesture will suffice. We should all be aware that cold and flu germs are easily spread. We should also be more mindful of not exposing a prevent-able illness to our fellow parishioners, from the young-est to the oldest and especially to those who are immune compromised.
Severe Weather Conditions Severe, snowy weather on weekends will affect
our Mass schedule. If this occurs, Masses will not be cancelled in the Upper Church,
but may be moved to the Lower Chapel. Also, with the exception of attending Church
or meetings, please: no parking in any Church lots at any time, especially during the winter.
It is a liability and seriously impedes effective snow removal. Thank you!
