Christiansen Lake Park is a small day‐use park located on the west side of
ChristiansenLake,eastofthecommunityofTalkeetna.Thereareseveralpicnic
sites, a swimming beach, three pavilions and a boat launch for small car top
boats or canoes. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during thesummer(MemorialDaythroughLaborDay).

(BigLake)SouthBigLakeRoadatFishCreek.The3‐acredayuseareaprovides
access to Fish Creek. Organized facilities include a salmon observation deck
(speciesprevalentduringAugust),pavilion,tables,picnicarea,restroom,fitnesscourt,parking,playgroundandopenlawnarea.

Breathtaking slopes of the TalkeetnaMountainslureskiersofallabilities.Milesofgroomedskitrailsareset,someashighas4,000feetintheGoldCordBowl.Becauseofitsadvantageouslocation‐60roadmilesnorthofAnchorage,fourhoursfromtheAlaskaRangeandDenaliNationalPark,abovetheheartoftheMatanuska‐SusitnaValley‐HatcherPassis a convenient base for visiting some of the most renowned attractions inSouthcentralAlaska.
LAZYMOUNTAINRECREATIONAREA
(Lazy Mountain) turn onto Clark‐Wolverine Road at mile 15.9 Old Glenn
Highway; proceed to intersection, turn right on Huntley Road, proceed to
Recreation Area at end of road. The area offers views of the Knik and
Matanuska River watersheds, Cook Inlet, Pioneer Peak and various Buttes.
Facilities include toilet, paved parking lot, horse and hiking trails. NOTE: A
nearby spring isNOTapproved forpublic consumption. The recreationarea is
best known for its trail that traverses from theparkingarea to the summitofLazyMountain.(non‐motorized)

NancyLakeStateRecreationAreaisdifferentfrommostAlaskanparkareas.Itisoneofthefewflat, lake‐studdedlandscapesinAlaskapreservedforrecreationpurposes.Therecreationarea’sclearwatersareringedwithunspoiledforests,and provide tranquil settings for canoeing, fishing, hiking and camping. Inwinter,therollingtopographyisidealforcross‐countryskiing,dogmushingandsnowmachining.
NancyLakeStateRecreationArea isaninety‐minutedrivenorthofAnchorage
along the ParksHighway. To enter the recreation area, turnwest ontoNancy
Lake Parkway atMile 67.3 of the ParksHighway. From there, theNancy Lake
Parkwaytravels6.5milessouthwesttoSouthRollyLakeCampground;inwinter
the parkway is not plowed beyond the Winter Trailhead at mile 2.2. The
communityofWillowliestwomilesnorthofthis junction,andhasafullrangeofservicesforthetraveler.
