The warm allure of the sun and the mysterious beauty of moonlight have inspired composers for generations to create works beyond compare. We begin in darkness with Mozart’s popular A Little Night Music and move to daylight with Grieg’s Morning from his Peer Gynt Suite. Vadim Serebryany returns, bringing his poetry to Mozart’s most sublime piano concerto, and Rachel Krehm sings a selection of Strauss art songs which number amongst the greatest ever written.

Who would have suspected that bad behaviour would lead to wonderful music? Orff’s immortal Carmina Burana returns to the Kingston stage, accompanied by our friends in the Queen’s University Choral Ensemble. This theme continues with Wolf-Ferrari’s delightful overture to an opera centred around a woman concealing her smoking habit, and the Smyth selection represents an achingly beautiful aria, interrupted by raucous pub crawlers.

On the other, a brand new symphony commissioned by the Kingston Symphony, composed by Ryan Trew, who has already shown to be a Kingston audience favourite!

Join us on a grand tour of Spain as we explore the kinetic fervour and rhythmic flair of three exciting Spanish masterpieces. Rodrigo’s concerto for guitar and orchestra is always on the top ten list of classical hits. We pair it with a smoldering intermezzo by Granados, and finish with the most fiercely Spanish ballet ever written, de Falla’s Three Cornered Hat.

While most people think of dance when they think of Gene Kelly, music was central to his work. It influenced him; inspired him; and, in many ways, defined him. In 1969, the musical arrangements to many of MGM’s classic films were destroyed. Now with these scores carefully reconstructed, we are able to bring you a remarkable event: Gene Kelly dancing on the big screen accompanied live by the magnificent Kingston Symphony!

Experience the ultimate Chicago tribute with Brass Transit! This eight-piece band is a dynamic and studio-tight powerhouse that will amaze you with their flawless jazz/rock performances of such hits as Saturday In The Park, If You Leave Me Now, and Feelin’ Stronger Every Day from the multiplatinum songbook of Chicago. Get ready to sing along!

Featuring clips from some of his most popular films, including Singin’ in the Rain, An American in Paris, Brigadoon, Les Girls, his joyful dance with Jerry the Mouse in Anchors Aweigh, plus rarely-seen numbers from television specials and rare broadcasts, this special evening hosted by Kelly’s wife and biographer, Patricia Ward Kelly, takes you behind the scenes as she shares Gene Kelly’s own insights about the making of these enduring and beloved works.
