1. Overview1.1 Master Programs
The program
MSc Economics
is a general economics master program with interdisciplinary structure(economics combined with pol. science, bus. admin., or sociology).
Five different specializations are offered:European Political EconomyInternational Labor Markets and InnovationInternational FinanceEuropean Social Security and Health SystemsApplied Statistics and Econometrics

As a sixth variant, the double degree program
MSc Economics (European Economic Integration)
is offered (jointly with the University of Warsaw and the University ofBergamo).
The program
MA International Economics and Public Policy
is a joint master program with the department of political science.

The master programs are decomposed into modules.
Most modules last one semester, few modules last two semesters.
All modules have a weight of 10 credit points (CP); in German: „Leistungspunkte (LP)“.
The only exception is the master thesis (30 CP).
In total, 120 CP must be completed.
When the examination of a „10-CP-module“ is passed, the grade has a weight of 10/120 (that is, 1/12) in the overall grade of the program.

2.1 Overview
Modules can be interchanged between semesters (in particular between semesters 2 and 3)

The modules of the first semester are compulsory modules:− Advanced Microeconomics− Advanced Macroeconomics− Econometrics
During the second and third semesters the students can choose amongdifferent options.
For the „module container“ Core, one of the following modules can beselected:– Incentives in Organizations and Innovation– Political Economics– Ökonomik des Wohlfahrtsstaates– Monetary Policy and the EMU– International Macroeconomics– Elements of Statistics and Econometrics

For the „module container“ Globalization and Economic Integration, oneof the following modules can be selected:– International Trade– International Environmental Economics– European Energy Markets– International Labor Markets– Health Economics– Industrial Organization
For the „module container“ Economic Analysis, one of the followingmodules can be selected:– Research Project– Advanced Topics in Economic Analysis– Quantitative Trading with R– or one of the previously listed modules that has not been chosen for
some other “module container”

For the „module container“ Elective, any of the previously listed modulescan be selected as long as it has not been selected for some other„module container“. Also modules offered by selected other departmentscan be chosen.
Two additional modules (20 CP) can be chosen that do not count for theoverall grade but, if you want, can be listed in the diploma.
When you have completed− the three compulsory modules,− for each module container one appropriate module,− and the master thesis,you will be awarded the degree „M.Sc. Economics“.

As pointed out before, five different specializations are offered:

If you want your master degree with an explicit specialization (e.g., „M.Sc. Economics (International Finance)“), then for the module containersadditional restrictions must be adhered to.
